I think you might be right about renaming the cemetery. I own a book of Houston Co. cemeteries but I'll be darned if I can put my hands on it at the moment. When I do find it I will repost and possibly help someone else with the information. I thank you so much for your time and help.

Yes, your information is correct. Lee Ross had a wife that died on the day of the birth of their child, Zudie. I am not familiar with a Edward's Cemetery in Houston County. Maybe it was changed to New Patterson?

I want to thank you for all that information. In my family files William "Lee" Ross was first married to Juda "Zudie" Craig who died during childbirth at age 24, in 1902. Their daughter Zudie was born 28 October in Humphreys Co. and died Dec 2 1945 in Humphreys Co. After the death of his first wife, Lee moved to Michigan, remarried and had a daughter named Sybil and moved back to McEwen. During a visit several years ago to TN. My cousin and I went to Edwards Cemetery and found several family member's headstones. Her stone reads:
Lydia Houston Ross
1873 - 1944
Wife of Lee
A tribute of Love

Nathan and Sarah Thomas are my 4x gr grandparents. I recently saw that on find a grave. Their son, John Hill Thomas (my 3x gr grandfather)and three of his children died in 1859 and were supposedly buried there also, but I can't find records on them. They may share a grave stone since they died within 6 weeks of each other. Thank you so much!

Well Bill,
It's sound to me like you have interest in the LDS Church. I'm thinking you may be one yourself. Am I right? I am LDS for your info. and I have a bit of info. on the family. A member of my family has been diagnosed with stage 4 color cancer. She is young and I am dedicating all my time and efforts to the family right now, but as I get a break I will try and sit down and look for what I can find for you. I love this work and have such an enormous amount of papers that my mother left me prior to her death to continue on with this great work of genealogy. I will connect again asap. Be patient as it may be a bit, but I will try and see what I can do. Thanks!

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I attended a Fiser Family reunion in Arkansas the weekend after your message. I have been researching several branches of the Fiser/Fizer family for nearly twenty years, and found that some of John Fiser's children had joined the Mormon Church in Humphreys County either right before or after the Civil War. I knew from an article in the Humphreys County history book, by Mrs. Sweezy, that Elbert and Barbara (Fiser ) Bigham had joined the church. I found several years later that Barbara's brother John Thomas Fiser had joined. So any light you can shed on this will be appreciated. Did the parents John and Holland (Damewood) Fiser also join the Mormon church? You can also contact me at (wfdahnke@bellsouth.net) I will be happy to answer any questions you might have on the family.

Regards,
Bill Dahnke

NO children. Someone has a small family tree on her, with no findings, only names/dates. Showing her husband as Clarene Quick SR. from MO.
I seen your post...Samuel I. Hankins is my Great Great Grandfather. My maiden Name is Hankins. My relatives on my fathers side came from Houston/Stewart/Erin/ all around that area. Im very interested in Samuels 1st wife Rachel Adkins.. It seems that she died I think from childbirth. I would love any information at all on her or her line.l esp any that leads to her husband Samuel and their children. I also would love to get anything on her parents. I do have some info. The problem I'm having is that Samuels mother is Nancy E. Hankins...her mother is Nancy Fuller...Nancy E.'s father is Berryman Hankins (Hawkins). Samuels mother took on her dads surname and passed it on down to her children. As of yet I can't find who her childrens fathers are. So if this continues...we are at a loss...to accept that we don't know our real surname on our male side going back. So we at this point may have to accept it all through the female line going back..which I'm not real happy about. So if you have anything on anyone...lemme know please and my email is areyouwatching@hotmail.com ....there is a reason I'm in a hurry to do this research. I won't post it here....but...If you email me with info and ask for some of my info...back to share I will try to get back to you on it...but for health reasons..I may not get back as quick as you would like. Sorry. Those surnames I posted are all linked to me. Thanks Sherry Inman

I found information on Cornelia Robertson Black in the History of Houston County Tennessee book (1871-1996). It states she married George Washington Bateman on 9/24/1867 in Humphreys County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Daniel and Amelia Brown Black of Pennsylvania. They were the parents of 7 children: Joseph, Margaret, Walter, James, Morton, Lola, Claude and George. Joseph Bateman, born ca 1868, was tax assessor of Houston County, TN; Margaret Bateman born ca 1870 was a school teacher; Walter Bateman born ca 1872 was a farmer and died 1928. James Morton Bateman, born ca 1873 died about 1936, married in 1898 to Carrie Ricardson. Children: Thomas Edgar Bateman, Ruth Bateman, Mary Bateman, Jimmie Bateman, Woodrow, Maude, Elizabeth, Lurene, Francis. Thomas Edgar Bateman had a son, Thomas Neal Bateman who is presently an attorney in Clarksville, Tennessee. His firm is Bateman & Bateman, P.C. 212 Madison St., Clarksville, TN; phone 931-647-5959; www.batemanlaw.com. Maybe he can give you more details on your family.

I am looking for information on Ann Brown Black b. 28 Aug 1800 in PA d. 14 Sept 1873 in Erin, Houston Co, Tenn. She is buried in Lockhart Cemetery Houston Co Tenn.

She married Daniel Black 26 Dec 1820 in PA. In the Fayette Co PA 1850 Census she is listed in Union Borough with 6 of her 12 children:
Ann E 26
James P 24
Jospeh 14
Daniel 10
Corneila 8
The others died in infancy or young.

In 1859 she left PA and with her surving children went to Tenn. Some say to start a mattress factory but the war go in the way.

Sons Daniel and Joseph joined the 50th Tenn for the Confederacy. Joseph was captured at Fort Donelson and was sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago. He died there shortly after arriving. One of the lucky.

Daniel survived the war and married Emma Daniel and had one daughter Annie.

Any information is welcome and I am happy to share information I have.

In looking at the Houston County Cemetery Book titled "They Passed This Way" published in 2004, I find Thomas N. Griffin, 12/8/1884-3/17/1933 listed in the Griffin-Halliburton Cemetery. I do not find Ouvie Smith Griffin in that cemetery and I do not find her name anywhere in the cemetery book. It's a possibility she does not have a marker in that cemetery. Also, none of their children are listed in that cemetery. She may be buried where their children are buried.

John James Hughes was born either 1832 or 1837, died between 1885 & 1900. In 1860 census states he was a blacksmith, in 1880 census a farmer. He married Missourie J. Baldwin on 7 Oct 1857 in Dickson Cty and had 5 children.
They may have lived a short time in Bastrop, Louisiana where Brown Virgie Hughes may have been born. Missourie died before 1906. Missourie's parent's names were Levi Baldwin b: 1800 and Eleanor Nelly b: 1810 (may have died in Dickson as 1850 census shows this as her residence.
