I searched through my records and found the following that might help you find the parents of your Mary Jane Brimer b. 1855.

A collection of Jefferson County Bible Records lists the following:
"This Bible Record is taken from the Family Bible of Vineyard Brimer and wife Rhoda Brimer, Hickory Ridge, Tenn. This Bible is now in possession of Mrs. W. T. Gaddis who is a grand-daughter of Vineyard Brimer. Her address is Dandridge, Tenn. R. F. D. # 2 Copied by W. A Lyle Dandridge, Tenn. August 12, 1937."

Notice that the ages skip, ususally they are listed in order oldest to youngest. Notice also that A., R., J., E., M.J., and B.A. correspond to the Vineyard and Rhoda Brimer's bible record above listing Anny, Robert, Jacob, Elizabeth, Mary Jane, and Barbry A. Their kids were staying with H.B. and R. at the time the Census was taken.

Oddly enough, they only list 10 children and not M.J. That is probably where you got stumped. There are a number of reasons that this may not be your Mary Jane Brimer. She might have been a child that died sometime after age 6 on the 1860 Census. You need to find the 1870 Census for Jefferson Co., TN listing Vineyard Brimer Jr. 50, Je-333. This will tell you if Mary Jane(M.J.) was alive a decade later. If she was, your odds improve. A marriage licence between her and John Patrick Reneau might shed some light on the above. The 1880 Census listing John Patrick Reneau and Mary Jane Brimer will tell you birth places to help confirm whether Mary Jane's parents match what you know now of Vineyard Brimer. (Caution, sometimes census information is only as good as those giving and those receiving).

The book "Chestnut Hll: A Chronicle 1783-1986 A History of Chestnut Hill, Jefferson Co., TN. does not list anything for Vineyard, son of John, son of William. Sequatchie Co. Bible Records may exist for your ancestors, as well as Tombstone information. Perhaps famililes were burried near each other. If you know where Mary Jane died, a death certificate would list her parents. She might have had a social security number issued if she lived long enough.
