Cindy - I hope you are still active on the Message Board.
It has been awhile since your posts in 1999 and 2001.
I only started researching in 2010 and have finally worked my way up my tree to Bradley Co, TN where my ggg-grandfather, David C. Cowan (1825-1974) first shows up in the 1850 Census.
There are several Cowans in Bradley Co. but I can't make a tie from David to any of the others old enough to be his father or brothers.
I find your posts interesting because the middle initial "C" may be a key to connecting to your branch.
David's oldest son, James Monroe Cowan - my gg-grandfather, moved to Colin Co, TX prior to 1880. Most of the descendants after that have spread across Texas and a few on to NM, CO, & CA.
Any depth of information you have on the Cowan's in TN, KY, NC & VA before 1880 I would be very interested in.
Thanks,
Jeff Cowan,
Lubbock, TX
