Mrs. MARY JANE HIGGINBOTHAM, 82, died at her home, 207 Thelka Street, Saturday morning. She was a native of Lincoln County, Tennessee and had been in San Antonio 25 years. Funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church of Lancaster and Dittmire Streets, Sunday afternoon by Rev. T. P. ANTHONY.

Survivors are four sons, A. H. and BARTIN HIGGINBOTHAM of San Antonio, JOE HOLT and FRENCH WOODWARD of Tennessee; three daughters, Mrs. Z. R. LIMBAUGH of Tennessee, Mrs. DEMA RIDDLE and Miss MARY HOLT of San Antonio; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

W. H. CRAWFORD
Plainview, Oct. 23: Funeral services for W. H. CRAWFORD, father of Dr. J. H. CRAWFORD, pastor of the Plainview First Methodist Church, were held today at the First Methodist Church. Dr. EUGENE SLATER, pastor of the Polk Street Methodist Church of Amarillo, officiated, assisted by Dr. LUTHER KIRK, superintendent of the Plainview Methodist District. Interment was in the Plainview Cemetery.

Mr. CRAWFORD, 82, an early day West Texas farmer, died Monday night in an Amarillo convalescent home where he had lived since suffering a stroke two years ago. A native of Lincoln County, Tennessee, he moved to Texas with his family in 1911 and settled at Claude. In 1926 he moved to Lockney from Clarenton. In 1943 Mr. Crawford moved to a farm near Kress and in 1945 to Plainview. Survivors in addition to Dr. Crawford are one daughter, Mrs. EUGENE F. HARRIS of Amarillo; two brothers, SIDNEY J. CRAWFORD of Fayetteville, Tenn., and BLAKE N. CRAWFORD of Florence, Alabama; two sisters, Mrs. SIDNEY HENTZ and Miss ANNA CRAWFORD, both of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dies in Caps
PALEN KEITH, 71, died Wednesday at home in the Caps community. He had been in ill health the past two years. Mrs. Keith was born Sept. 30, 1889 in Lincoln County, Tennessee and came to the Caps community in 1900 where he had lived until his death. He was a farmer and a member of the Caps Baptist Church. Mr. Keith married the former VERA LEE HARPER on Sept. 20, 1913 at Caps.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters MOZELLE KEITH of the hope; Mrs. ERNEST TATE and Mrs. CLOY LYLES, both of Abilene; four sons, LEE of the home, JOHN of Route 3 Abilene, BILL and FLOYD, both of Abilene; eight grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. PEARL MARTIN of Abilene, Mrs. ZOLA TEAGUE of Merkel, Mrs. J. W. KIRKPATRICK of Houston, Mrs. H. B. COGGINS of Abernathy, and Mrs. W. R. DARBY of Roswell, New Mexico; two brothers OLLIE KEITH of Milan, Tennessee and W. L. “BILL’ KEITH of Ropes, Texas.

Funeral will be held Friday at Kiker-Warren Chapel with Rev. BOB JACKSON, pastor of Caps Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. CLIFF HERRINGTON, pastor of Hearne Baptist Church, and Rev. CLYDE JACKSON, a former pastor of Caps Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Brief Illness Claims Aged Caps Resident
GREENBERRY FLOYD ISOM, 80, died yesterday at his home five miles west of Caps. He had been in poor health for a considerable time, but critically ill only a short period. He had lived in Taylor County since 1900. Born Aug. 25, 1860 in Lincoln County, Tennessee, he was married to BITHIA ELIZABETH KEITH in 1878. His wife survives him, as do five sons and one daughter: JOHN V. ISOM of San Saba, ROBERT E. LEE ISOM of Lubbock, and CHARLES EDGAR, GREENBERRY FLOYD Jr. and EVERET ROY ISOM of Abilene, and Mrs. HENRY MARTIN of Floydada. There are 34 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. at the graveside in Drummond cemetery, about a half mile from Caps. Officiating minister will be Rev. CLDYE JACKSON, pastor of the Temple Baptist Church in Abilene. The Laughter Funeral Home of Abilene is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are J. P. KEITH, BEN KEITH, O. V. BIGHAM, O. H. ASHLEY, BILL WHISENANT, and TED BIGHAM.

Retired Lueders Farmer Dies
Stamford, Feb. 3: JOHN PARKER VICKERS, 73, retired farmer of Leuders, died today at the Stamford sanitarium. Mr. Vickers suffered a heart attack a week ago and was brought to the hospital last Monday.

He was born Dec. 19, 1878 in Lincoln County, Tennessee and married ANNIE CHAPMAN at Albany on Aug. 26, 1901. The family lived in Shackelford County near Leuders for 45 years. Funeral plans are to be announced from the Kinney funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, GLEN VICKERS of St. Jo., Texas and J. R. VICKERS of Lueders; two daughters Mrs. IRENE WITHERS of Lueders and Mrs. AUDIE FAY LATIMER of Iraan; four brothers, E. J., J. B., and M. F. VICKERS, all of Lueders, and E. W. VICKERS of Kilgore; a sister Mrs. J. L. GILLILAND of Lueders and seven grandchildren.

Resident for 40 years Succumbs
J. C. SMITH, Abilene resident for 40 years, died at the home a daughter, Mrs. E. V. HUCKABEE of 1333 South 2nd, yesterday after an illness of 30 days. He had been in failing health three months.

Mr. Smith was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee. For more than 30 years he has been an employee of the Guilar Estate here before his retirement about 15 years ago. He had been making his home with Mrs. Huckabee in recent years.

Survivors include another daughters, Mrs. J. W. TETTE of New Orleans, La.; a sister Mrs. LUCY SUMNER of Fayette, Tenn.; two nephews including ED TAYLOR of Abilene; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One of the grandchildren, Mrs. FRANCIS HAYMOND of New Orleans, arrived in Abilene yesterday before learning of his death. She came to attend him during his illness.

Funeral will be held at Elliott’s chapel today with Dr. O. P. CLARK, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery beside the grave of his wife who died last year. Named as pallbearers were J. R. CLARK, WALTER HALE, JACK FREE, E. R. BRIGHT, W. P. FARR and HUGH CLARK.

Party Honors H. C. HALBERTS
Stamford, Sept. 4: Honoring Mr. and Mrs. H. C. HALBERT, who were married 50 years ago, Mrs. JACK FUQUA and Mrs. J. G. HIGH entertained at the FUQUA home Sunday. The Halberts were married on Sept. 2, 1896.

Mrs. CLYDE WESTFALL registered the guests in the bride’s book. In the dining room were NEEMORE FUQUA and DOL LUCK, who presided at the refreshment talbe. Mrs. J. H. BLUE and Mrs. E. E. LUCK were also in the houseparty. SUNNY JO MEREDITH and NANCY LAVENDER, accompanied by ALBERT RUSSELL, sang “Silver Threads Among the Gold” and “I Love You Truly.”

Asters, pom-pom chrysanthemums and roses decorated the living room. The lace covered refreshment table held the three tiered wedding cake, decorated with gold roses and topped with a tiny bridal couple. After Mr. and Mrs. Halbert cut the first slice, Miss LUCK cut and served the cake and Miss FUQUA ladled the golden punch. Favors were white Esther Reeds, tied with white satin ribbons, inscribed in gold.

Mr. and Mrs. HALBERT were married in Lincoln County, Tennessee by T. C. LITTLE on Sept. 2, 1896. Mrs. Halbert wsa the former LIDA B. DICKEY. In 1899, Mr. and Mrs. HALBERT and their son FLOYD HALBERT moved to Texas. For six years they lived in Navarro County where they farmed before they settled in Stamford in 1906.

Rites at Lueders
Stamford, March 13: Funeral for J. H. M. COMMONS, 84, retired farmer and landowner, will be Friday at the Lueders Baptist Church. The pastor, Rev. BUREN L. HIGDON, will officiate, assisted by Rev. MELVIN BYRD and Rev. ORAN SMITH. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery of Stamford, directed by Kinney Funeral Home. Mr. Commons died Wednesday at the Stamford Sanitarium. He was hospitalized Tuesday.

JOHN HENRY MORGAN COMMONS was born June 19, 1867 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. The family moved to Jones County in 1907. Mrs. Commons died March 13, 1951.

Survivors include five sons, WILLIE, MORRIS, and LAVONE COMMONS, all of Lueders, V. C. COMMONS of Whitarrel, Texas and E. C. COMMONS of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. W. B. COTTON of Andrews and MYRTLE COMMONS of Stamford; a brother, L. F. COMMONS; a sister, Mrs. W. N. VAUGHAN of Lueders; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lueders Woman Dies in Stamford Hospital
Stamford, Aug. 12: Mrs. W. N. VAUGHAN, 77, of Lueders, died at the Stamford Sanitarium Monday. She had entered the hospital Sunday night. Her husband died March 30, 1952. Funeral has been set for Wednesday at the Methodist Church of Lueders. Rev. C. B. MELTON, pastor, will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Stamford, with Kinney Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. VAUGHAN and her later husband came to Jones County Jan. 1, 1919 from McKinney. She was EMMA LOUISE COMMONS before their marriage on Dec. 19, 1902. She was born march 2, 1875 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Survivors include four sons, E. B., F. C., and W. W. VAUGHAN of Lueders, and N. C. VAUGHAN of Albany; a daughter Mrs. D. S. KNOBLE of Levelland; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a brother L.F .COMMONS of Fort Worth.

JOHN WESLEY NEWTON Dies at Merkel
Merkel, March 30: JOHN WESLEY NEWTON, 84, died Monday in the Sandler Hospital here after being in bad health for 15 years. He had been hospitalized three weeks. Funeral will be Tuesday in the First Methodist Church here. Rev. HUGH HUNT, pastor, and Rev. LYNWOOD HARRISON, Methodist minister at Tye, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Starbuck Funeral Home.
