I have pieced together much of the information on John Richard (Old Dick) Brooks' lineage as well and would love to compare & share notes & any pictures. I do know that Old Dick & Mahulda owned a tanyard about 7 miles east of Lafayette TN. the coordinates of the John R Brooks Tanyard Cemetary can be found online now, and my dad and I are trying to plan a trip out there (we live on the other side of Nashville) to see the cemetary and one of the cousins still lives around Portland, and she says she has some information as well.
