YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for Mrs. Dorothy L. Coleman, 81, who departed this life Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Omni Manor.
Mrs. Coleman was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Peakland, Tennessee, a daughter of Elijah and Willie M. Williams Smith.
She did private duty nursing at Assumption Nursing Home. She was a member of the church, it’s nurses’ guild, Kitchen Committee, and Mothers’ Board, and was also a member of the Bonanza Club.
Her husband, Prince Coleman, preceded her in death.
She leaves children, Melvin Smith and Robert Carmichael of Knoxville, Tenn., Sharon Coleman, Gary Carter, Vanessa Blackshear, Stacey Coleman, and John Carter, all of Youngstown, Ohio; a sister, Pearly Smith of Athens, Tenn.; a niece, Patricia A. Fowler of Kansas City, Mo., who was reared with her as a sister; a devoted nephew, Edward Smith of Tampa, Florida; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
