My grandparents and some great grandparents were from Obion County. Paternal grandparents were Virgi Henry Laster and wife Docia Pauline Forrester. Virgil was the son of Elias Laster and Mary War Nan Johnson who were married near Troy in 1854. Docia was the daughter of Francis Marion Forrester and Amanda Dunaway who moved to Obion County in 1893 from Hickman County and settled near the Pleasant Hill community. Mary was the daughter of Elizabeth ? Johnson Callis wife of Henry Callis who lived in the Pleasant Hill community west of Rives. Elias, Mary, Virgil, and Docia lived in Civil District 7 for many years where they died. Maternal grandparents were Joseph Lynn and Nancye Annie Jones of the Gibbs community. Both were natives of Shelby County and moved to Obion County around 1918. Joseph was a telegraph operator for the IC railroad and a farmer. They are buried in Union City, TN along with my parents Marion Preston Laster and Nina Faye Lynn. All contacts relative to these families and surnames are welcome.
