Mrs. Rademacher,
Thank you so much for your help.I found a binder full of research that my grandmother compiled over 20 years trying to determine these two mysteries:
1.)if Jeremiah Hynson was indeed the father of Fanny Lyle's children, and
2.)Why Fanny's children would take the name of Lyle.
She had exchanged letters with several women over the years who appeared to have information that pointed to the possibility of two separate men by the name of Jeremiah Hynson. From a letter that I've attached below, one Mrs. Vannah Taylor wrote this:
"From the material I am sending, you'll see that this Jeremiah may have been a different one- since he also had a son Jeremiah (none others are in her book), and you don't have one among Fannie's sons. I found another Zach/Zech the age of ours, in TN in 1850 & 1860 with parents of the same names- while ours were in MO and TX for those 2 census records! Siblings were different. I don't know about the different Jeremiahs in AL in some of the photocopies. My cousin's wife ran across those in her research of her family there, and also in TN."
Any information clarifying this or proving that Jeremiah was the father of Fanny's children would solve this age-old mystery.
I'd be interested in knowing the names of the books about the Lyles coming in the 1700's. My pedigree stopped at Daniel and I'm thankful that I was able to add the name of James Lyle. Do you have further names from that line?
Thanks so much for your help!
