If you are writing in response to a post I made earlier, the purpose of my inquiry was to ascertain if there were male slaves who later served in the civil war. It was not for genealogy purposes. However, if you access the 1850 and 1860 census they only tell you if a person owned slaves and the number, whether they were males or females, and age range. No names to the slaves are given, neither first or last. If they are listed in the census, then they are not a slave. Not all African-American people of Sevier County were slaves.
