On page 2 of -The Bridge Burners_ by Cameron Judd, in the sidenote:
According to the late Washington county historian Paul Fink, one portion of that county was so heavily Unionist in sentiment that, after the secesion of Tennessee, the people of the entire district voted to "secede" from Tennessee itself and form an independent Unionist government. They elected one Jacob Hill as president, formed a Congress, and created, for a brief time, an independent "country" called Bricker's Republic... Bricker's Republic was located in what is now Washington County's Fifth District, in the Telford area.

Does anyone else have additional information that they could share with us on this republic and the officials?
