Hi Jason,

Thank you very much for your reply. I have John and Fidelia together in VA in 1850 & 60 censuses and in WV 1870 & 80 censuses. So he is definitely not the John who married Susn Hollingsworth in TN. (By the way, I obtained Susan's last name from an internet post signed by Jason Haydon which I suspect is you)

From all of the other census data and deed information I have it looks to me like my John is actully the son of John Sanford Hodges b. VA 1770-80. According to a deed John Sanford is the son of Josiah Hodges and a brother of your Agbner. So it looks like they are all in the same family.

In case you don't have the info here is a deed extract concerning the family.

13Nov1817, Franklin Co VA,
John (Sanford) Hodges bought 203 Ac on both sides of Pigg River, a tract which belonged to Josiah Hodges decd. of whom they inherited as legatees.
Bought from: John Goddard and wf Anna (Hodges), Joel Hodges and wf Susannah, Abner Hodges and wf Aggy, Ephraim Hodges and wf Susannah, Isham Hodges.
Witnesses: James Goddard, Burnell Hodges, Gabriel Hodges.

I have a bunch of census data also, if you would be interested let me know.

Thanks again,

Chester Maberry
