I'm researching my gggg grandfather, Silas Mercer Williams,
who was born in North Carolina on January 27, 1792. His
father was Joseph Williams and his family moved to Smith
County around 1797-1799. I looking for all references to
Silas and his father. I've find out through other resources
that Joseph's will was probated in 1808 (he died probably
1804). Silas' brother, Morgan Williams, died in 1814 and his will was probated in Smith County, Silas was one of the
exec. Silas' married Sally (Sarah) Crutchfield (1st wife) in Smith County, but have found no record. They had 4 children. Silas then moved to Wilson County, Tennessee and married Frances Shaw. Silas had 14 children altogether and moved to Franklin County, Illinois in the 1830s. Children include: Frances Williams, Elizabeth Williams, Samuel Williams, and Dicey Williams (by first wife), William Shaw Williams, Henry Marsh Shaw Williams, Joseph Simpson Williams, Sally Crutchfield Williams, Rebecca Williams, Nancy Jane Williams, Clarissa Brown Williams, Silas Mercer Williams, Jr., Stephen Lacey Williams, John Wiseman Williams, and Sarah Williams.
Silas' brothers and sisters were Marmaduke Williams, Morgan
Williams, Elizabeth Williams, John Williams, Joseph
Williams, Polly Williams, Sally Williams, Andrew Williams
and Moses Williams.
If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.
