Just saw your post. I never got a direct email. My ggrandfather J.L. Harris married Sarah Bryson in Cannon Co. in 1844-46? Her parents were Joseph Bryson Sr and Jane Bogle from NC. I'm from his 2nd marriage to Rebecca Reed. I'm also searching a Samuel and Robert Bryson from Rutherford and Cannon Co. around the Wilson co line abt 1828. Also Elijah Harris and son Claiborne in Rutherford then Wilson co. abt 1828-1850. What part of MO did Bogles go to? Debbie in AL

She was supposedly of Indian or Danish decent. Im not sure of which but her great-grandchildren said she spoke a foreign language. She was also a twin, her twin was named "Sis". Sis married Lewis' half bother Riley Hendrix, and later married a Phillip Lanius or Lanier.
I have Lewis' death certificate, and his father's name was "Dick" Jones. I know his mother's name was Sarah George. If anyone has any info on a Dick possibly Richard Jones in Wilson County from about 1825 who married a Sarah George, please HELP ME!!!!

As one person sent you his marriage date as 1844, you should obtain a copy of the marriage bond to see who the bondsman was. They were often a relative of either the husband or wife, which may give you a clue as to relatives.

Rick Saunders
http://genealogypro.com/fsaunders.html

The Library of Virginia is in the process of digitizing Chancery records and has done so for Dinwiddie County, VA. Researching my line of Kirklands (They married into Wynns originating from Dinwiddie) I came across the following which provides extremely detailed information re: children of Bolling D. & Frances Wynn originally from the same county. She is answering a chancery case filled by Jesse Spiers also of Dinwiddie County, VA.

Thought this may be interesting for any Wynns remaining.

Letter in question located on page 40.

http://www.lva.virginia.gov/chancery/full_case_detail.asp?CF...

I am interested in what ever you might have in your records for the families of Seth Thornton and William Wood of White County. TN. Mary Ellen Thornton, w/o Luke Wood, was b. 1841 in White Co, TN. She stated in 1906 Application to Indian Bureau that she was granddaughter of Reuben Poe (not sure if this was his Indian or English name.) Luke Wood moved his family to Grayson Co, KY by 1850. Early Thornton names would be Seth, Nancy (nee Perry), James, Sallie, Mathias and Ransom. Early Wood names would be an Elizabeth (w/o Wm Wood), William, Jr & Sr. Anything that you might have would be helpful in pointing me in the right direction for their earlier ancestors from Virginia and North Carolina. Thank you for your time and the work you have done to preserve the White County records.

I think the census record is for "Baily" or "Bailey" Chandler. It just looks like "Barby". In other places in the same census the enumerator's penmanship may be equally deceiving. The last name that looks like "Whilken" is actually "Whitker" or "Whitaker". I've never heard of a Barby Chandler but made the same mistake when I first saw it in the census. The other name asked about Renicky or Kenicky Chandler? I believe that is Uncy or Uncky Chandler. Not sure who he was either or who he was related to. I am currently researching the Chandlers and related families of Wilson County, Tennessee. I am actually a direct paternal descendant of Robert Chandler the probable grandson of emigrant John Chandler of Jamestown. This has been proven through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Now if I could find the connection from Chandler to Jernigan. THAT is the real mystery. The answer probably lies either in Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina?, Georgia? or back in Virginia?

TN In 1860 Christopher is listed in Wilson Co. near the rest of the Owen families who appear to be from Halifax Co. VA

I am interested in knowing if any more information would be available for the following marriage found on ancestry.com. It says Mollie Etcherson/Etherson married J Finley on Aug 2, 1877 Wilson, TN. I have followed this couple through the census but wonder if this early marriage record would likely have parents named. Thank you very much.
Barb Braswell

Rev. Joshua Woollen b. 1878 in MD, d. 1860 in TN.

Hello,

I am hoping someone on this board can be of help to me. I am not researching the Woollen family as a whole just one member of the Woollen family.

Rev. Joshua Woollen was born October 3, 1787 in Taylors Island, Dorchester Co., MD and died 31 March 1860 in Wilson County, TN. In the 1850 Civil District, Gladeville Community, Wilson County, TN. Joshua is listed with wife Polly Woollen and daughter Estel Woollen.

Also in this 1850 census is listed Andrew J. Baker which should be Andrew J. Barker age 18. This person is my husband's 3rd great grandfather.

Rev. Joshua Woollen would be the minister that marries Andrew Jackson Barker to Elvira Jemima Barker on 4 January 1854 in Wilson County.

I believe Rev. Joshua Woollen was at one time the minister of the Carmel Free Will Bapist Church that I believe was located in Wilson County, TN. I don't know if this church still exists.

What I am looking for are any records, information or anything that shows any family connection or friend connection or employer connection between Rev. Joshua Woollen to Andrew Jackson Barker and the Barker family.

The reason being that I have spent 20 years searching for Andrew Jackson Barker's parents and have yet to prove who they are. So, I am doing some research on some of the people in Andrew's life that might lead me to some clues to his parents.

So, anything anyone can share about Joshua Woollen would be wonderful.

Melissa Barker
Genealogist for Tennessee and Kentucky
E-Mail: kaitysmom@peoplestel.net

I am looking for Arbie Augusta Lane. I believe she was the daughter of one of Johnson Lanes' sons. Possibly Robert Shelton or Palistine B. Lane. If so, she would be a grandaughter of Johnson and a great grandaughter of Aaron. I believe she was born abt 1872. She died in 1895. She married Richard D. Hobdy, from Sumner county, in Nashville in 1888. Again, thank you for help.

Norma

Hi, my name is Mark Lewis. I live in Lebanon, TN which is about 20 miles from Statesville, TN and I was born in 1966.

My father is Hartford J. Lewis (b. 1933), his father was Floyd J. Lewis (1898-1982), his father was William R. Lewis Jr. (1865 - 1917), his father was William R. Lewis Sr. (1834 - 1915) and his father was William Carroll Lewis (1815 {we think} - 1865). William Carroll was killed by Union "bushwackers" or so the story goes at the end of the Civil War.

I find you line very similiar to mine. The name Jennings is not only a very common name is Statesville, IT IS the name of the cemetary. My father's and his father's middle name is Jennings.

It seems quite the coincidence that we both have a William Carroll from Statesville, TN that is so close in age.

Mark

Hi Jay. I'm not sure if we've spoken before, but I am your guy. My g-g-grandfather was Carrol Lewis. He is said to have brothers of Dennis, George W. and Samuel. It is also said in our history books that his brother G.W. moved to Conway, Arkansas. So...I think we have a match.

Carrol lived and died in Statesville, TN in 1865. Many of his relatives still live here. Although many are also in TX as three of his children moved there after the war.

We are having a family reunion in July of 2010 in Lebanon, TN. We'd love to have you.

Mark Lewis
615-476-2918

I'm searching for info. on Ezekiel Clampet 1760-1832 who was shown in the 1820 Wilson Co. census. I think he had a brother Nathan 1781-1845 who moved to Ill. Their father might have been named Nathan also?

Looking for the names of Ezekiel's children.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Patricia

I was just glancing through the Wilson County posts and ran across yours. This fall I am having a book, "Odom Oracles" published that will include some of the Owen children from the family you are interested in. I can follow, with documentation four of the Josiah Owen children: Fountain, James Nelson, Mary Elizabeth and Sarah "Sallie" Windbush. Fountain had children that married into the Odom family. James Nelson had children that married into the Odom family.
Mary Elizabeth married an Odom and probably died in Gibson County, TN. Sarah "Sallie" married an Odom and died in Texas. Texas burial records for Sarah "Sallie" show she was born in Halifax County, Virginia. That may be a good place for you to start with on the family. Sherrie Barber
