As I previously posted, a descendant from Henry S. Boon
(who was Rebecca Boon's brother) recently did the DNA
test through Family Tree. The results have came back
showing him with the markers of the Thomas Boon Isle of
Wight Va line. John Boon from Wilson County Tenn was the
father of Rebecca Boon, Henry S. Boon & Nathan Bryant
Boon. I have searched and searched but haven't came
up with this John Boon's father who would have descended
from Thomas Boon. In the records of Thomas Boon's descendants, there are several John Boon's. I haven't
been able to pinpoint any which may be tied to our
John Boon. Any records on this John Boon show him as
being in Wilson County Tenn as far back as 1800. I believe
him to have been born around Northampton County, Tenn
around 1775.
Palmer Family Cemetery, Wilson Co., TN

Findagrave.com has two listings: Palmer Family Cemetery with 8 internments and a John Palmer Family Cemetery with 18 internments. There are two addresses given - one "north of Hwy 10 and left on Murphy Road" and one "in a field north of Lebanon and 1/4 mile east of hwy 231 across from the new Carroll-Oakland School.

Are these one and the same and can anyone provide a better description of the location? I specifically am seeking the private cemetery that has 18 internments including one Sarah Martha Bennett and several Palmers. Does anyone know of any photographs existing of this cemetery?

I was just at the archives in Wilson County yesterday and copied all their records regarding his land sales, atc. I am heading to the State Archives in Nashville today to search for more info. I will let you know what I find. By the way, on our way here we stopped at Chandlers' Chapel in Logan County and took pictures of Joel and Susan's headstones, along with their daughter, and other extended family members. Some of these photos are already on Find-A-Grave, but some are not, I will upload the new ones when I get back from this trip.

Susan Davis and Joel Preston are my fourth greatgrandparents. I have not found Solomon's ancestors. I do have a few records of his Wilson County purchases and sales of various properties.

I was hoping to visit Wilson County next month, but really don't have any idea what records there may help point in the direction of Solomon's parents. Any suggestions?

Rebecca is a sister to Nathan Bryant Boon. Rebecca's and Nathan's brother Henry S. Boon is my ancestor. He was born in 1810 in Tennessee. This family lived around Brush Creek in Smith County Tenn. Some of the families descended from this siblings say the parent's names are John Boon and Rebecca Bryant Boon. There is a John Boon who married Chloe Garrison in Wilson County Tennessee in 1815. If this John was their father than Rebecca must have died around 1814. I now have a descendant of Henry S. Boon doing the Boone DNA test, so we will be seeing if we fall into the Daniel Boone DNA line or not. Mona Lanier (Mrs. Richard Lanier)

Family of Elizabeth Wilson Carroll of Gibson County, Tennessee

I'm hoping someone can provide leads regarding the father and mother of Elizabeth Wilson Carroll(b. 1834 d. Apr 7 1882).

Elizabeth is found on the 1850 Federal Census living in district 17 of Gibson County, TN with her mother Mary and four younger sisters:
Matilda Wilson b.1836
Nancy Wilson b. 1840
Malinda Wilson b. 1843
Caroline Wilson b. 1845

I believe Elizabeth also had an older brother George, because by 1860 Elizabeth and her husband John M. Carroll are living next door to a George and Matilda Willson. George is listed as being 30 years old, which would make him just 4 years older than Elizabeth. George is living with Matilda and 2 other women whose relationship to him is unclear:

Matilda Willson age 29(b.1831)
Eliza Willson age 16(b. 1844)
Caroline Willson age 15 (b.1845)

The age of Caroline is the same as Elizabeth's sister Caroline. The Matilda living with George could be Elizabeth's sister Matilda if the census was off by about 4 years on her age. I presume that Eliza may be George's daughter and a namesake of Elizabeth and her age is just young enough for her to possibly be a daughter of George.

I've seen many posts about other Wilson families in Gibson County, but this family predates many of them that I've found with the exception of a reference to a Jefferson Wilson who married a Mary "Polly" Mayfield in Gibson County in 1832. Given Elizabeth's age and the fact that her mother's name was Mary, I thought Jefferson was a possibility for Elizabeth's father, but further research indicated that Jefferson and Mary "Polly" were long removed from Gibson County by 1850.

If anyone believes they have further information on this Wilson family, I'd be interested to hear from you.

Malakiah Blurton also served in a MO unit during the Civil War. Both his service in a KS unit & a MO unit can be found on Ancestry. On the website SOS MO, a file card can be found for him for his MO service. He enlisted in the MO 8th Cavalry Voluteers on Aug 17 1862 Springfield (Greene co) MO-dropped from rolls as a deserter Mar 27 1865. He is also on the Civil War Pension Index on Ancestry. He applied for a pension on Aug 9 1890 in AR. His granddaughter, Mary Blurton applied for his pension in Jan 1911 in OK. There was a Malchi Blurton who married a Matilda Childs on 7 Oct 1877 Jasper co MO-the same Malakiah? On the death certificates for his son Oliver & his wife Cornelia's (Adams) certificate, his name is spelled Malchi. On his son John C's death certificate, his name is spelled Maliciah. If anyone has other info on Malakiah, would they care to share it. Susanna is my great grand aunt. Thanks.

I assume he also was interred at Memorial Gardens but you will have to contact the sexton of the cemetery to get positive documentation on my supposition.

Need Help finding the Father of: Solomon Davis- He was born about 1799 in North Carolina and married (1st) Saluda (poss. Brown but not proven)born in Virginia in 1800.
Solomon Davis and Saluda were married before 1823. They had the following children:
1. He died on 15 Aug 1888 in Webb City,Jasper County, MO (Buried: Webb City Cemetery, Jasper County, MO). Some Solomon Davis researchers do not have Thomas B listed as a son of Solomon since he was married and out of the household before the 1850 census. This information was confirmed from the Webb City Cemetery records "TB Davis - Son of Solomon and Saluda"
2. Susan S Davis was born on 08 Mar 1826 in Tennessee. She married Joel T Preston on 17 Nov 1847 in Wilson, Tennessee, USA. She died on 17 Sep 1893 in Logan, Kentucky,USA (Buried: Chandlers Chapel, Logan, KY).
3. Julia A Davis was born on 16 Oct 1830 in Tennessee, USA. She married Richard Compton on 23 Mar 1852 in Wilson, Tennessee, USA. She died on 15 Nov 1911 in Illinois, USA (Buried: Sugar Camp Cemetery, Moores Prairie, Jefferson County, IL).
4. Francis Davis was born on 22 Sep 1833 in Wilson, Tennessee, USA. She married George E Tracy on 21 Oct 1851 in Wilson, Tennessee, USA. She died on 26 Jul 1926 in
Covington, Tipton, Tennessee, USA (Buried Munford Cemetery).
5. Robert P Davis was born about 1836 in Wilson, Tennessee, USA. He married Chloe Ann Simmons on 24 Dec 1857 in Logan, Kentucky, USA. He died after 1880.
6. Lucinda Davis was born on 14 Oct 1839 in Tennessee. She married George W. Davis on 20 Feb 1859 in Wilson, Tennessee, USA. She died on 28 Oct 1905 in DeKalb County,Tennessee (Buried: Snow Hill Methodist Church).
7. William Brown Davis was born in Nov 1844 in Tennessee. He married Sarah Jane Hudson on 06 Dec 1865 in Wilson, Tennessee, USA[24]. He died in Apr 1907 in Tennessee,
USA.
Solomon Davis can be found on the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 Census's in Wilson County TN. Saluda died sometime between 1860 and 1869. Solomon remarried Harriett Pritchet in March 17, 1869. They had no children. He died in March of 1879.

MANY researchers have confused his information with the Solomon Davis that lived in DeKalb County, TN They may have been cousins but this has not been proven. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Jesse Shaw of Wilson Co. Tennessee, probably older than your Jesse. I estimate his birth about 1780 in North Carolina. He died in Saline Co., Illinois in 1837. I have a copy of his will.
His will list just one son---Leroy Wesley Shaw, and his wife Sally and his brother-in-law John Cain. However at his death he had 3 other sons under the age of 10, and a pregnant wife. Leroy was born in Wilson Co. Tennessee in 1819. I believe his mother was Mary Pack who was married to Jesse in Wilson Co. in 1819.
One of Jesse's grandsons had a bio written about him that lists Jesse's name as Amos. It also states that Jesse came to Illinois to what is now Saline Co., Illinois in 1830. There is one Shaw in the 1830 Saline Co, census---the right age, but named Gabriel Shaw.
There were 3 Jesse's in the 1830 Tennessee census. Henderson Tn. age 20-29 too young,
Roane Tn age 50-59 right age and
Wlliamson Tn age 60-69 too old.
In Wilson Co. Tennessee there was a Jeremiah Shaw and a William Shaw listed in 1830.
I sure would like to know more about my Jesse Shaw. Anything you could share would be welcome.

The history of Cainsville Tennessee is currently being prepared after 7 years of intense research. This work details the history of the town through the decades and provides family trees of over 200 families (many with photographs)backed by credible sources through documents, interviews, and cemetery info. The family trees are of the families living in District 17 of Wilson County TN in the 1880 census, which encompasses the towns of Cainsville and Greenvale. The nearby towns of Norene, Milton, and Lascassas also had a role in the towns history. Looking for photographs of anyone that lived in Cainsville and Greenvale during 1880-1900. A website is hopefully forth coming to post questions, comments, photos, etc. Please contact cainsvilletnhistory@yahoo.com if interested in having photos included in this work.

Mattie Barber Mystery - Wilson Co., TN

My husband's grandfather was John R. Lannom who married Mary Ann Bilbro.

There was always a mystery about a boy he had named Aubrey Lannom born 17 Jul 1889 Wilson Co., TN and died 25 Mar 1906 Hopewell Community, TN. He died during a flu epidemic. He was raised by Mary Ann Bilbro along with her other children. He was about 3 years old when John R. Lannom married Mary Ann Bilbro.

All my records and family stories say his mother was a Woodall, but I did some digging and found a Aubrey Lannom born 17 Jul 1889 and died 25 Mar 1906 buried in the BARBER Cemetery in Gladeville, Wilson Co., TN. There is also a Martha C. Barber buried there and she died in 1889. I strongly suspect she was Aubrey's mother - not a Woodall as everyone suspects.

I found a Marriage bond for John R. Lannom and Mattie A. Barber #229 dated 24 Oct 1888, but it was never filled out and signed.

In the Barber Cemetery is Joseph Barber and his wife Martha M. Barber, a lot of other Barbers and Fields.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is Martha C."Mattie" Barber a daughter of Joseph Barber and Martha M. Barber?
I know there are photos of my Grandmother, & her Cartwright sisters. My Great-Grandmother Zaney Cartwright was living while I was a child. I remember her very well. My Aunt has photos of her as well.
I live in Florida. Not sure when I'll make it to Tenn.? Next time I'm there, I'll see about getting copies.
I'm interested in seeing a photo of Martha Cartwright as well.
Are we related?
Do you know the history of the Cartwrights in this part of Tenn.
I was reading about a minister named Peter Cartwright. I don't think I'm related, but he was pretty interesting. He had an encounter with Andrew Jackson while preaching in Nashville, & ended up going to the Hermitage for dinner. You may already know about Peter.
All the best, Kelly

In Smith Fork Cem. is buried a female, M.W. Pemberton born 1816 died 1885.

I believe this to be Martha W. (Word) Lester who married 2nd. W.H. Pemberton. My problem is, I can't locate a marriage for them. They lived in Wilson Co. and in Rutherford Co., Tn. Some of her Lester children also lived in Rutherford Co.

Martha Lester is found in 1850 Wilson Co. census with children: Nancy (Nancy Eliz.), James (James Wm.), Martha (Martha Ellen), John and Hiram (Hiram Wroe) and in 1860 Wilson Co. census with children: James, Martha, Hiram and Sarah (Sarah Virginia). I believe she had a daughter Mary Lucinda Frances also. I can't locate Martha W. in 1870 or 1880 census under the name Lester or Pemberton. I also can't locate a W.M. Pemberton in any of the census records.

Can anyone tell me the Pemberton sthat Martha married and when?

Any help or info. would be greatly appreciated!

Patricia in Illinois

Martha W. Pemberton of Wilson Co., Tn.

Manson Monroe Williams born 1869, Ada Lester Williams born 1872 and Martha Zora Williams born 1875 were listed as minor heirs of MARTHA W. PEMBERTON. Estate was in WILSON CO., TN. Papers dated 30 Apr 1887 and are found in Jefferson Co., Ill. records. Their father was Hiram Williams. The father was Hiram Williams born 1817 Wilson Co., Tn., died 1890 Jeff. Co., Ill. He married first Martha Ellen (Jennings) 1837 Wilson Co. who died in 1868 Jeff. Co., Ill. He was then married to a Martha born 18 Aug 1843 died 1880. I haven't been able to find a marriage record for them anywhere. Could his second wife have been Martha (Pemberton) and the estate that was left to the children was hers?

Anyone have any info. on the above?

Patricia in Illinois

William McCullock/McCullough Wilson Co., TN

My ancestor is the John C. Lannom (1797-1881) line. His 1st wife was a Catherine ??. I Thomas have not been able to find her last name or parents. Here is what I have as a possible hint:

"In looking through the records of Wilson Co there are some hints that Catherine might be the sister to or oldest child of William McCullock/McCullough. This record in Deed Book P p404:

22 Sep 1834: William Mc Cullock to Robert McCullock of Rutherford county and John Lannum (Note surname spelling)of the same county 110a where the said William now lives.

More often than not when I have found a record like this the father is giving or selling land to his children--but in the deed records her husband's name would be recorded not hers.

In the 1850 census 23rd Dist of Wilson Co TN John C. and Catherine Lannom are living next door to Nathan C McCullock on one side and on the other side lives Green B. Lannom and his wife Margaret McCullock--and next door to them is William (70 m NC) and Margaret (63 f VA) McCullock. Most likely the same William of the deed above."

Does anyone know anything about this William McCullock family?? Thank you

Carole Lannom
clannom@fuse.net
