I'm interested in a Frank B. Bailey, a photographer in Palestine, Texas in the 1880s. The 1880 census lists him at age 50, b. in South Carolina. Father b. Maine, Mother b. Connecticutt. His 35 year old wife Jennie was born in Missouri; both of her parents b. Virginia. Children listed (all b. in Texas): Mary F., 17; Rufus W., 15; Joseph F., 7; Marvin C., 6; daughter H. L., 3; John C., 4 months.
I believe he is the same Frank B. Bailey who was an early daguerreotypist in Winchester, Virginia (1853 or earlier) and Indianapolis, Indiana, ca. 1853 through about 1858. There he married Ellen Hartley:
Indpls. newspaper (from card index, Indiana State Library), F. B. Bailey to Ellen Hartley, 14 Mar. 1860; Indianapolis Locomotive, 17 Mar. 1860, p. 3: F. B. Bailey of Indianapolis m. Ellen Hartley daughter of Samuel Hartley on the 8th by Rev. Dr. Harrison (from Alexandria, VA Gazette).
He worked in Houston TX in 1856 and 1857; Huntsville TX(Walker Co.), 1869; Palestine (Anderson Co.) 1880 and 1886 (confirmed dates). I'd like to correspond with descendants or anyone who has more information. Joan Hostetler, Indiana Photographers Project.
