Slave owners in East Texas. The parents, siblings. of Robert Proctor Grayson in North Carolina

I have reached an impasse at both ends of my genealogical search and I am hopeful that someone out there can show me a crack in this brick wall. Though I know there were slave owners (whether farms or plantations) in the Palestine (Denson Springs) area of East Texas, I cannot find who they might have been, nor anyone who knows how to find out. The generations of (great) grandmothers are as follows: Adeline (slave)---Ellen (possible slave)---Idella (lived on the Grayson farm in Denson Springs (1869-1873).
On the other side is R.P. Grayson who was born in North Carolina 1840. I am trying to find anything about his parents, siblings, where he lived in North Carolina. Tried looking for his marriage license to Miriam Schmidt to find parent names. Could not find it. Any suggestions? Thank you.
