Is there anyone available that can help me find the marriage record for my Grandparents, James Alvin Tichenor born 1888 in KY and Rosa Iva Fletcher born in 1900 Rockwall, TX? They were married in about 1923. I have been told by other family members that they may have been in Armstrong County at time of their marriage.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Not related to Tichenor's or Fletcher's and do not live in Armstrong county.

I see that Rosa Tichenor died in LA Co CA in 1976 and shows she was born 14 Nov 1900. She is listed in the 1900 US census in Rockwall county which is dated 8 June of 1900 born November 1899. Her California death record also does not give her mother's maiden name. I would also say that Rockwall most likely place of birth since two of her brothers listed Rockwall on their draft records.

Tichenor family was in Hockley County TX in 1930 US Census and tells what age

they were when they married. Christine A Tichenor was born in Terry county in

1924.

James Alvin Tichenor was in Hall county in 1910 census and was in Hall county

when he registered for WWI Draft 1917-1918. Two of J A Tichenor's and 1st wife,

Virginia Edith [unknown last name] found in Hall county birth records. Virginia

Edith Tichenor died in Hall county in 1922.

The Tichenor's should have been counted in the 1920 Hall county census, I would

think, but they were not found.

Rosa's brother Earl Hicks Fletcher also registered for draft in Hall county but

was in the 1920 Armstrong county census. Rosa's other brothers registered in

Choctaw County OK. Earl Hicks Fletcher's first known child was born in Hall county in 1912 as well, John Stephen Fletcher.

It appears that Earl Hicks Fletcher may have first married Bessie D Tichenor.

Bessie Tichenor listed as step daughter of Samuel G Fletcher and wife Sallie and are in the 1910 Rockwall census. Samuel and Sallie married abt 1904. Did you know this information ? I am guessing that this is who Earl married. Earl H Fletcher has another wife by the 1930 census and has moved to Ft Worth, Tarrant Co by census time. Last three children were recorded born in Armstrong county however.

Bessie D Fletcher died in Armstrong county in 1923.

I could not find James Alvin and Bessie Tichenor in 1900 record who are probably brother/sister and "Sallie"/Sarah Tichenor Fletcher their mother.

Samuel Fletcher is in the 1900 Rockwall census and is he related to Rosa's father or just coincidence ?

It would be my guess that J A Tichenor left Hall county when his first wife died to go live near sister Bessie and brother in law Earl Fletcher in Armstrong county then Bessie Fletcher died the next year. J A and Earl both remarried less than a year after their wifes died; someone needed to take care of motherless children.

You're very observant.

Earl Hicks Fletcher was first married to my Aunt Bessie their children are my mother's double cousins. Aunt Bessie died young and yes, my grandmother, Uncle Earl's baby sister did go and assist with the children after Aunt Bessie's death.

I have posted a lookup request for Armstrong County also. Family told me that they thought that's where my grandparents had met. Hopefully something will show up.
