My Grandfather, Horace Washington EVANS, was the son of Tom T. EVANS and Emma CAFFALL Evans, both born in Karnes County. After their first 2 children were born, they moved to Jones County. After Tom T. Evans committed suicide on 12/13/1903, Emma moved to Bandera County to live with her family. My grandfather had a sister, Lillie EVANS, b. 2/8/1898 in Karnes County, d. 4/18/1905, and a brother, Robert Leslie (not sure of spelling) EVANS b. 4/12/1900 in Jones County, d. 10/7/1910. My grandfather was the only child to live to adulthood. He was raised in Cuero by his two aunts, Annie CAFFALL POETTER and Nancy CAFFALL COBB. They and Emma had three brothers, Franklin R. CAFFALL, Thomas CAFFALL, and Ephraim Leslie CAFFALL, all of whom were born in Karnes County. Their parents were Thomas CAFFALL, b. cir. 1845, Rickmansworth, England, and Louisa Anna ASHER, b. cir. 1849, Karnes County. He came to the U.S. with his father when he was a small boy. He moved to Karnes County after his father was killed in a wagon accident in Missouri. Her parents were from Kentucky and Illinois and came to Texas by way of Tennessee. Would love to know more about the CAFFALL family in England, where did they first settle in the U.S., when they moved to Bandera, what happened to my great-grandmother, Emma CAFFALL EVANS, where are she and the children buried? I have hit a brick wall with the parents of Tom T. EVANS. Any information would be appreciated, and I would love to share the info I have. Thank you in advance, and good luck with your search.
