My mother was among the first guests at the new Lost valley Ranch, developed by a man named Robinson, @ 1947. Little more than a year later my parents built a home on Robindale West Rd atop the bluff that looked down on Bandera Creek and to Joleta Ranch on the other side, We lived there from late 1948 until June, 1950. Best years of my life.
Joleta used to run sheep on their acres: I pulled several out of the mud of the creek one time: the creek would dry into pools during the summer---lots of mud and concentrations of moccasins and soft-shelled turtles.
My most intimate connection to the ranch was when my goat, Janey, got lost. Mom got a call from Joleta saying there was one in the horse corral with a broken leg. Before she could hang up, I was on my way down the bluff to the rescue. I found Janey and carried her up the creek and through the underbrush and up the bluff to home. Vet set her leg and all was well.
