You have to be a little bit careful with these names. There were two David McFarlands in Mo. at the same time, yours was in Lincoln county - but the other, David who lived in Cooper, then Morgan, was married to Susan (ross is what I've been told). Both moved to Texas. It appears as though this second David lost his wife Susan between 1860 and 1870 and remarried - a woman named Rebecca. So it would be very easy to mix up the two families. This second David ended up in Grayson County Texas, and he never had a son named Walter. So if you see a David and Rebecca in Grayson, at least you know they aren't the ones you're looking for.
