Classification: Query
Surnames: SWINNEY
As a member of the South Texas Genealogical Society in Beeville (now disbanded), I helped survey Glenwood Cemetery in 1999. Following are the SWINNEY names from that listing:

SWINNEY, Floyd Richard Sr., Block 122, 1st Addition, 07 Jan 1933 – 11 May 1983
SWINNEY, Floyd Richard Jr., Block 122, 1st Addition, 15 May 1958 – 15 May 1958
SWINNEY, Hillary A., Block 122, 1st Addition, 1897 – 1936
SWINNEY, Julia A., Block 91, 2nd Addition, 21 Apr 1880 – 09 Jul 1969
SWINNEY, Katie B., Block 122, 1st Addition, 1899 – 1984
SWINNEY, Lorine Shipp, Block 134,1st Addition, 02 Aug 1910 – 13 Oct 1975
SWINNEY, Robert J., Block 134, 1st Addition, 1935 – 1991
SWINNEY, Roy Johnson, Block 134, 1st Addition, 18 Nov 1907 – 30 Oct 1934
SWINNEY, Sidney J., Block 91, 2nd Addition, 12 May 1875 – 03 Jan 1948

In 1967 the Bee-Picayune newspaper in Beeville published a 1964 listing of the names found on markers in Evergreen Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Beeville. The name SWINNEY was not included. However, there have been many instances of vandalism there over the years.

In the early 1950’s I was in high school with sisters Ramona (class of 1951)and Helen (class of 1954) Swinney. I don’t know their father’s name, but they might be included in the 1940 Federal Census for Beeville.

I appreciated your kind words, but so many people have helped me over the years that I am always happy to “pass it along”.

Kay
