Classification: Query

A letter written on The Gunter stationery on Oct 23, 1932 by VAN H. RUTLAND says, in part, that he is "suffering from the TB and am pronouned in the last stage. Not long, you c." He is trying to locate his sister about an insurance policy he had taken out during "the World War".

Was the Gunter Hotel actually a TB sanitarium? If not, was the sanitarium nearby? It is assumed by family that Van probably died shortly after writing this letter, perhaps in 1933. No SS # has been located for Van which would indicate he probably did die about this time.

Does anyone know of the name and address of the TB sanitarium which was in San Antonio in 1932? The Gunter Hotel? Is there anyway to determine if, indeed, Van Rutland did die there, and where he could possibly be buried. We don't know if there was other family in San Antonio, if Van was married and perhaps left children.

ANY information on Van H. Rutland, b abt 1898 in Covington Co MS and died probably 1932-1934, San Antonio, TX, DEEPLY appreciated.
