I have traced my line back to Capt. Richard Sanderson (1641-1718). I believe it goes like this: John R. Sanderson > John F. Sanderson> John W. Sanderson>John Sanderson>Isaac Sanderson>Shadrack Sanderson>Joseph Sanderson>Benjamin Sanderson>Joseph Sanderson>Richard Sanderson.

I am fairly certain of the line except for Shadrack Sanderson (Could be his brother Thomas Sanderson), but it still ends at Richard Sanderson. I have seen some trees give Robert Sanderson of New England as the Father of Richard Sanderson, but I have searched the records in New England, and find no evidence that Robert had a son named Richard.

My Father and other relatives seemed to think that our ancestors came from Scotland. So far, I have hit a brick wall at Richard. Anyone have any evidence on this? I guess my feeling now is that the NC Sandersons came from Scotland, and the NE Sandersons came from England.
