DEEP CREEK DOTS Mar 4th
Died on the 2, last at the residence of Grandpa Hadley, Mr. Thos. Ligon, at the early age of 22 year. It is only about 15 months age that this industrious young man was attached by the first signs of that insidious disease consumption, which in short time got such an unrelenting grasp on him that not withstanding the best care and attendance he sank rapidly and hopelessly. The young and vigorous life struggled hard against the treacherous foe and the poor boy suffered for months in agony in pious resignation unto the ...his Creator. Finally the angel of death ended his misery and opened for him the bright gate to join his father and to join his mother who had proceeded him only a few months, and whose grave is close to his last resting place at the Callahan City cemetery. The deepest sympathy of the community goes toward the bereaved brothers, John and Joe Ligon and above all to the venerable grandparents who in their old age have to undergo the trying ordeal to bury children and grandchildren in such rapid succession.

IN MEMORY
DIED - At the home of his son, F Taber, on March 14th, Grandpa Taber, age 86
The "golden bowl" is now broken, the "silver cord" is now loosed and a bright spirit has winged its flight to the spirit of God. Rest in peace dear friend, sadly will the loved ones miss you, yet we feel that our loss is your great gain. We know that your pure spirit soared to the realms of everlasting bliss, and not until the loved ones join you there, will the loved toned make music in our hearts He leaves a mourning household, his aged wife, whose companionship he has enjoyed for sixty five (65) years is left, broken-hearted, but with the consolation, that their separation will not be long then she soon will be called to cross the crystal sea, where their union will be unbroken through all ages. My she fully realize that his sufferings are ended, and that he is numbered with the household of God. Everything was done during his sickness that thoughtful kindness could suggest, and the long procession that followed the remains to the grave was expressive of the sorrow of his friends and neighbors. We commend the loved ones to "Him who doeth all things well" MEG.

BAIRD STAR, Saturday, March 28, 1896
DEATHS
Little Annie Crumbie daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J R Crumbie died yesterday morning after an illness of only a few days. Little Annie was a bright beautiful little girl and her death was a shock to her parents and to most of the near friends some of whom did not know she was sick. Only a week ago she was well and apparently full of life and vigorous in health, today her little voice is hushed on earth and her spirit has gone beyond the night into the beautiful sunlight of blessed eternity.
The remains were shipped to Weatherford for internment.

THE STORM
On last Saturday night a storm of wind almost in the nature of a cyclone broke over this city, which was followed by a severe hail and rain storm. The wind had been blowing for some 48 hours from the south and southeast, and soon after dark it assumed the proportions of a gale, keeping the dust and sand flying in very direction, and making it exceedingly difficult for pedestrians to keep on their feet.
About six miles west of here at Clyde, the Catholic church was blown off its foundation.
At Cottonwood, some 22 miles south of here, the residence occupied by Mr. Will Rawlings was completely wrecked, killing Mrs. R outright and fatally injuring Dr. Mason, he aged grandfather who died Sunday evening from the injuries sustained. Mr. R and his three children was severely injured but we are glad to say will survive.
The rain was badly needed, and will be greatly appreciated by the farmers in this section.

OBITUARY
OBITUARY
Sister Lillie Ligon was born April 23, 1872 and was a regular attendant at the Spring Gap Sunday School for some months previous to her conversion in August 1892 when she was baptized and received into full fellowship of this church and was ever after an exemplary member to her death Feby 15, 1896.
She was aware of her aproching morality and expressed a desire to live to raise her dear little boy and be with her loved ones, but was resigned to go to rest. Although attended by the best medical aid and kindly cared for by loved ones, her gentle spirit was taken away and we believe is now sweetly resting with her dear Savior. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord:

Rest dear Lillie, Jesus keeps you
With a kind and loving hand
Close beside the sparkling waters
in that bright and better land HER MOTHER
And with loving hearts dear Lillie,
We will try to follow you
Hoping when we meet in Heaven
All our pleasures will renew HER SISTER ESTELLE

Resolved by the Shiloh Baptist church in conference assembled at the Spring Gap school house that we tender our hearfelt sympathy to the sorrowing widowed mother, sisters and brother and the heart broken husband so sadly bereft in the death of our dear sister, praying that when the death angel shall knock at your chamber may each one be ready to join her in her blissful home.

BAIRD STAR, Friday, Feb 29, 1896

DEEP CREEK DOTS (Feb 18)
Again I have to chronicle a sad event. Mrs. Lillian Ligon, wife of Joe Ligon and second daughter of Mr. E E Beasley was called away by the pitiless hand of death last Saturday morning the 15th last. Deceased was about 23 years old and leaves besides the husband a little boy of years who fortunately has not yet the understanding for his irreparable loss. And there remains the grief stricken mother, the loving sisters and brother who mourn deeply the premature departure of the beloved daughter and sister. Sincere and just is their sorrow but they bow reverently before the will of the Father in Heaven and look hopefully for the reunion on the other shore. Rev. Carter of Cottonwood conducted the obsequice? at the Deep CREEK cemetery last Sunday and the whole community showed their hearty sympathy by a general attendance.
