Isaac Richard Owens
Funeral for Isaac Richard Owens, 84, of Rusk, was held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Rusk with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Owens died Tuesday, May 10, at Cherokee Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 9, 1904 in Nacogdoches County. He was a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk, a Rusk resident for 19 years. He moved from Lufkin to Rusk in 1969. He was retired from the timber industry.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Fannie Owens of Rusk; two daughters, Mrs. Jo Ann Parks and Joy Gilbert, both of Lewisville; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Owens of Rusk; four sisters, Essie Fleniken of Groves; Beulah Needham of Houston; Ruby Keer of Lufkin and Opal Blackburn of Nacogdoches; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his son, Max Owens.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
