Daniel Battle SCARBOROUGH

I am trying to determine the grave location of my relative, Daniel Battle SCARBOROUGH. According to his obit, he was an early settler of Collin County, and the first teacher in the old Womble school house. He died about 02 Dec 1908 and his obit appears in the McKinney Democrat (p 3) on 10 Dec 1908. The obit states that he died in Farmersville and was buried in the Verona Cemetery. While visiting that cemetery earlier this year, I walked the entire cememtery but did not locate a stone for him. I contacted the cemetery, and they said that records from that time were destroyed in a fire, so they don't have any idea where his grave might be located. They stated that many early graves were marked with wooden markers, which have deteriorated over the years. Does anyone have any ideas where I might proceed from here? I thought maybe there are some other sources that I might contact about the grave location. Thanks for any info or direction!

Does anyone have the Bible records of Henry Clay Matthews and Mary Elizabeth McKinney?

Mary Elizabeth McKinney was the only full blood sister of my g-grandmother Cynthia Ann McKinney. They were the daughters of Daniel H. McKinney and Harriet Wallace of Greenville Co, SC. Harriet died in 1857, and Daniel married second Thomson/Thomsin; they are shown in the 1860 & 1870 Greenville Co, SC census records.

Cynthia Ann was born April 06, 1850, Greenville Co, SC
I have been given two different birth dates for Mary Elizabeth...March 30, 1851 and Nov. 13, 1854, Greenville Co, SC. The 1854 birth date seems to fit more closely with her childhood census records.

I cannot find Mary Elizabeth McKinney ANYWHERE in 1880.

I have found a marriage record in Collin Co, TX for Henry Clay Matthews and "Lizzie" McKinney (October 15, 1885). They are in Collin County for the 1900 & 1910 census records. Neither of those census records show that Mary E./"Lizzie" was born in SC AND her age on those census records is not "close enough" to convince me that she is "my" Mary Elizabeth McKinney.

It is posted on line that she died in MO in 1924 (going from memory). There is no death certificate for her there. It is posted on line that he died at Terrel, TX. On "Find A Grave" he is listed for Terral, Jefferson Co, OK.

Additionally, I found a SECOND Henry Clay Matthews married to a "Lizzie." ??????? This couple doesn't seem to fit either!

I am trying to sort out information and document. If anyone can help, I will really appreciate it.

ELIZABETH ELLINGTON was born in North Carolina about 1846.
Do not have the name of her parents.
I was told he served in the Civil War, (not verified).
I found them living in Collin, TX in the 1880 Census, (they had seven children listed).
I cannot locate them before or after the 1880 census

I am seeking info on my g-grandmother, Susan Glaze (b.1863 - d.1895-1900) oldest child (of 12) of Houston Glaze (1828-1898) & Mary Jane Parks Glaze (1843-1921), of Lincoln County, GA.

Susan married John Kauffman Gresham, of Wilkes County, GA., somewhere around 1880-1881, and had 3 sons (George Houston, Fred Parks, & Otis Quinn

I would also like to get parents/grandparents confirmed (with dates) for John Kauffman Gresham.

The info I have on John K. Gresham (1854-1907) is even more brief. Possible parents: George Gresham & Nancy S. Gresham. If those are the correct parents, then he had 5 brothers (Rufus, William, Edward, Benjamin, & George) and one sister (Lucy Ann).

I know John moved Susan & their sons to Texas (either Collin County or Denton County) in the late 1880s or early 1890s, but by the 1900 Census the sons had been sent back to Lincoln County, GA to live with relatives (but no mention of Susan) while John remained in TX and worked as a laborer, living as a boarder. He is classified as "single" on the 1900 Census.

I have been unable to locate any 1890 Census records -- wasn't there one done that year?

Do I have any Gresham relatives in the Collin or Denton County areas?

Looking for descendants of Florene D. Maxey Butler (1910-1969) and is buried with her husband, James Earl Butler at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. She had at least three children: a son named James Albert Butler and two daughters. One daughter married A.G. Tutor and another daughter married Jack Garcia. This was information provided by the funeral home back in 1969. Florene's parents were Robert Lee Maxey and Minnie Custerd. She had a half brother named James Oliver Hudson, Sr, and a brother named Jessie Lee Maxey who died in WWII. Would like to contact any descendants of Florene!

There is a group of us that are researching the particular line in which Collin descends (or at least is said to descend from), which is Mordecai McKinney. The DNA test involves nothing more than swabbing the inside of your mouth. The kit is sent to you with a mailer to send back the swab. We can likely fund all the costs involved if someone will volunteer that can document his direct line from Collin.

Searching for information in Collin County, Texas, concerning Jonas WHITAKER and Samuel WHITAKER - a father and son with families that moved to Collin/Grayson Counties from Missouri in 1844. Both are buried in Warden Cemetery in Collin County. Jonas had a daughter, Julia Ann that married a John W. WATSON. Not much is known about him, except that he came from Kentucky, I think (depends on the census). I have really hit a road block with him. I know other WATSON's came from Kentucky about that time and feel that he is related. John and Julia are buried in Warden Cemetery in Collin County, as are several Watsons. John and Julia had a daughter, Cora Ann GLEAVES, whose father John Robertson GLEAVES is also buried in the same cemetery. Would be happy to share information with other descendants.

With your Brinlee line, do you know which Brinlee that Brinlee Creek was named?

Niece Cindy Stephens and I visited the Brinlee Cemetery to gather information on the Brinlee line and each time time I travel to the Dallas Metroplex, I cross Brinlee Creek on Highway 121. Just wondering for which Brinlee the creek was named??

While we were in the area we did travel on to VanAlstyne to visit Collin McKinney's grave. (This was a couple of years ago and the caretaker there was extremely helpful - a very nice man willing to help us find our ancestors)

Wash and Molly Johnson had three children in Collin County between 1901 and 1906, one being my grandmother, Rosa Pearl Johnson (b: 27 Jun 1905 – Collin County, TX – d: 29 Feb 1960, Guilford County, NC). My grandmother use to tell a story about a sister named Edna that stayed behind when the family left Texas, and on the 1910 Collin County Census, there is an Edna (age 11) living with JF Birdwell, but she is identified as his daughter. My grandmother named her first daughter Edna after this sister, but it wasn’t until I started researching that I realized that it was a half-sister. I would like to know who Edna Brashear’s father (Molly’s first husband) was. Also, Wash Johnson’s had a son, Frank M. Johnson, that was born in Texas about 1895 (possibly Collin County), but this would have had to been from a different marriage. I cannot find Wash Johnson on the 1900 Census, but guess that he would have probably been living in or around Collin County. Any assistance in identifying Frank Johnson’s mother (Wash’s first wife) would be greatly appreciated. On the 1910 Census, Wash and Molly Johnson, along with their three children, plus Frank, are living in Blount County, TN. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

An obituary for my husband's uncle Henry Sachs states simply that burial will be in Valdasta, Texas with Gross Mortuary in charge. There is no date on obit., but the assumption is that is in late 1940s. I would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of cemeteries in the area. Is there a published transcription of the cemeteries? The obit. mentions his daughter Janie Combest who lived in Valdasta. Any help will be appreciated.

Info from that is in a Pettypool data base that says my ancestor, Alexander Pool "probably" went to Texas...even listed names of hi and his wife's children....

Yet the Noble Alexander Pool who is my great great grandfather was born in Granville Co., NC and the children listed for him are on the census for 1850, 1860, in Granville Co., NC

Wondering how that info got into the "History of Nevada, Collin Co., TX book.....

Wondering how this person knew the names of the children, but did not know where they lived.

We have searched for information for Lee J Foster, b about 1800 in North Carolina or Tennessee. We know some of his descendants were in Texas prior to 1880. We do not know the name of his first wife and the names of the children he had with her. We know children by a later marriage, etc. that came to Texas and it is likely the older ones came, too. His grandson, James Harrison Foster is buried in Lamar County as well as others. James's father's name is Wilson Foster. Does anyone know who the parents are of the young Lee J Foster who died in 1895 in Collin County?

He appears in New York City in the Census of 1920, and then in Oakland, California in the Census of 1930.

I have a Collin County DC indicating burial in Mt. Olive, yet when I search there is no Mt. Olive Cemetery listing for Collin County. This person shows up as being buried in Williams Cemetery. Has there ever been or was this at one time Mt. Olive? If so, why is there no way to correlate that on the cemetery listings so that folks won't have to dig through all the cemeteries [to the w's] to find that listing? I am totally confused by this. FYI this was Elizabeth Keeling buried in 1959, not so long ago. Thanks for any explanation available.
