Sion Record Bostick married 1st to Susan E Townsend, daughter of Asa Townsend & Rebecca Harper, who is buried at Borden Cemetery, Colorado Co, TX. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txcolora/cemeteries_b.htm#Borden
"Townsend, Susan E.; born: Nov 22, 1823; died: Feb 27, 1860;
Daughter of Asa and Rebecca (Harper) Townsend...married Sion Record Bostick, Apr 4, 1839...married Light Stapleton Townsend, Nov 28, 1857"
Now, I've found her & Sion Record Bostick on the 1850 Colorado Co, TX census as follows:
Bostick, Sion R 30 M farmer $4000 AL
Susan 27 F GA
Susan 7 F TX
Martha 5 F TX
Lavinia 4 F TX
Absolum 1 M TX
Ok, she apparently divorces Sion and marries her 1st cousin, Light Stapleton Townsend, son of Asa's brother Thomas Roderick. Then she died 27 Feb 1860.
I have found Sion R Bostick on the 1860 Colorado Co, TX census:http://www.columbustexas.net/library/history/1860%20Schedule...
Bostick, Sion R 39 male farmer $20,000/$5000 AL
Mary J 18 F GA
Amanda 17 F TX
Martha 15 F TX
Lavinia 13 F TX
Volney 10 M TX
Hannah 7 F TX
Joshua 5 M TX
Byron 7/12 M TX
Now I'm figuring that Amanda is the same person as Susan found in 1850 and that she's Amanda Susan or Susan Amanda; then Martha & Lavinia both show up. Ok so far.
Am thinking that Volney b 1850, Hannah b 1853, & Joshua b 1855 are children of Sion & Susan's as they were born prior to the time she married Light Stapleton Townsend.
So that leaves Byron 7/12 in 1860 and he must be the child of Sion and Mary J. If this is correct, then they may have married about 1858.
Is this tracking so far? Do you know anything of a 2nd marriage for Sion Record Bostick?? Were there additional children born to this marriage?
Does anyone know the date of the divorce between Susan & Sion?
Were there children born to Susan Townsend Bostick & Light Stapleton Townsend?
Thanks for your help!
