From Sep 1960 thru Jan 1965, J D (John Duffy) Hollifield attended college at Western Ky University in Bowling Green, Ky. He was from the Morganton area of Burke County, NC. When he and I graduated in Jan 1965, we both received Army Commissions as 2LT's. We both spent extended careers in the Army, me retiring in 1992.

WKU's military fraternity, The Pershing Rifles, is having a reunion this summer and we trying to locate him, so far to no avail. I did find a Social Security Death Index record that looks like it could be him. That J D Hollifield was born in Sep 1942 and died 15 May 1988 at an undisclosed location. That person would have been the correct age to be a college Freshman in Sep 1960 and that person's SS# was issued by North Carolina.

Is there someone monitoring this Comal County Message Board that may know of this J D Hollifield or family? I visited his mother and siblings in 1961 and they were in a rural area a bit SE of Morganton, Burke Co, NC. He was a Medical Service Corps Officer at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.

Any help locating this Army Veteran would be much appreciated.
