I did not find a burial for Grief Johnson Box in the Cooke County Cemetery Books. I did not find him mentioned in "Cooke County, Past and Present", "The First Hundred Years", or "Early Days in Cooke County".
I did find mention of a Box family in an artile on Mrs. J. C. Burns in "Cooke County, Past and Present'. She recounts how a Box family was attacked by Indians. Mr. Box was killed, his wife and 3 children taken hostage. They were later rescued. She does not give first names for any of the Box family.
I made a copy of the article should you want it. Please email me at dalbrecht@kiowaonline.net
