Looking for information on Joyce Carroll Morris Born Aug 13, 1930 Gainesville, Cooke, Texas. She died very early before 1937. I can find a birth record, but no death record. From what I have been told by my father, she was killed by a drunk driver on her front porch. I have no idea what cemetery she was buried in, or what year she died.

Yes,

I have that, unfortunately Jesse K died quite some time before Pernelia, his Spouse, and I wasn't able to find him in "find a Grave". Of course, he could still be buried in a grave in Cooke County but not listed in "Find a Grave" due to nobody identifying his headstone. Mrs. Dial was his spouse. Thanks for your response anyway.

Hi,

I'm looking for Jesse or Jessee K Dial's date of death, somewhere between 1870-1880 in Gainsville. He is listed on the 1870 census but his Spouse (Permelia Dial) is listed in the 1880 Census as widowed. I haven't found him on the "find of grave" site but did find Permelia and some of the children. Any help would be appreciated.

The death certificate is under his middle name, Henry Stockton. Date of death was April 12, 1924. This is very perplexing, death certificate says body shipped to Bland, Mo. but my half brother lives there in Mo. and he says he has gone to all the cemetaries in Bland and there is only one William Henry Stockton but he is 73. I don't know if your still active here, but i am looking for this undertaker from 1924. They were located at 6500 Old Olive St. Road. Which does not exist anymore. I William P. Johnson of the County of Tippah in the State of Mississippi do make and ordain this my last will and testament revoking any and all testaments dispositions by me, heretofore made. "William Ivory Sherwood of 1103 S. Taylor, Gainesville, Texas died June 4, 1943 at the age of 63 years 4 months and 26 days of a skull fracture received in an automobile accident on Highway 77. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin F. Sherwood and his mother, Rebecca Rogers Sherwood. He is survived by a brother, John Absalum Sherwood and wife Lucy Ellen Davis Sherwood. Followup on the info researched by Paul Sain and myself? John H. Broadway's parents identifed on the family tree url I have provided. He was born 4 Oct 1851 in Nashville, TN to Samuel Broadway and Mary A. Lula Morgan. The family is found: 1850 TN-Roane-Subdivision 20-Image 63, 1860 AR-Prairie-White River-Image 25, and 1870 TX-Travis-Not Stated-Images 37 & 38. Proof and continuity found on death certificate of his older brother: Hardy Joshua Broadway (13 Nov 1849 - 21 Jan 1922) who died in Lampasas, TX.

Yes. Silas's, Father was Andrew Basil(Bee)Glenn born 2/1/1865 his 1st wife was Ida Elizabeth Fields. She died after giving birth,2/20/1899. They had Harvey Clarence Glenn,Silas Newell Glenn, Nancy Jane Glenn"Nannie",and Ray Luther Glenn. The baby lived about a year. He married Maggie May Mangham 3/17/1902, They then had 8 children together. It seems that the older first children were edged out after Andrew B. passed away. The story I always heard growing up was that they were "orphans". I didn't find all of the other family until I started looking on the internet.Last year and found a wealth of information on the Glenn's`beginning with Jacob Glenn and his wife Mary Ryals. I have contacted the web site as they had my Dad listed as deceased in or before 1930. I have found a lot of information on Queen Victoria Brister's family also. John Haywood Broadway though is a mystery. My Dad had an uncle Jim Broadway and his wife. They lived in the Travis County area of Texas. But we never met them.He called and invited Dad and all to the family reunions,But Dad always said"I haven't lost anything in Texas." So we never went. So that's why I referred to them as orphans. I am curious to know more about John H. My Grand mother said That She was 1/2 Cherokee. She always referred to us kids as her only"dark haired,and dark eyed Grand kids. It's true all of my cousins had blue,green, or gray eyes and blond hair. John H. is the puzzle I can't seem to get his information, parents, Grandparents and where He came from. John is no longer a puzzle. In addition to the 1860 Prairie, AR and 1870 Travis, TX census cited by Paula Sain, view 1850 TN-Roane-Subdivision 20-Image 63 for Samuel Broadway. John's youngest sister Amanda wed Andrew Waldrop and she died with that surname (1 Nov 1867 - 29 May 1948) in Panola County, TX. Also, John married Jane Cummings prior to Queen Victoria. That union produced four kids and there are death certificates: John William Leonard Broadway (5 Jun 1885 - 18 Jun 1971) and Josephine Agnes Lynch (3 Jul 1876 - 21 Jun 1918). No info found on the other siblings, Mary and Sally, born to Jane Cummings (died: 22 Jun 1918).

I want to thank you for all of the information. I grew up thinking that my Grand Father and his siblings were all orphans. Now I find that is not the case. Still though I want to find information on John Haywood Broadway,before He married . His mother and Father Grand parents etc. Queen Victoria I have well documented already. John is the puzzle. Thank you again though for all of the information you have sent. My Grand mother was Laura May Broadway,She married Silas Newell Glenn and had My Dad,Eugene Milton Glenn 7/21/1923.There was also, Andrew Milburn Glenn, John Ray Glenn, Mildred Anabelle Glenn and Winfred Ardell Glenn. They had 2 other children that passed away early on. I know that my aunt and two of my uncles have passed away as well as my Dad. (Fred ) is the youngest and may still be alive. I am a Great Grand Daughter of John Haywood Broadway,born 10/04/1851 died 09/26/1931. He married Queen Victoria Brister 09/26/1890 I would love to Know more about him and his family. Their daughter Laura May Broadway married Silas Newell Glenn and moved to Arizona in 1921 or 22. My father was Eugene Milton Glenn 07/23/1923.

Hello--I have looked at all our records and can only find a Lawrence C. Way buried in the Fairview Cemetery and the dates do not match. Sorry I suggest you go to Grayson County and doa sreach.

You can go there by first going "txgenweb" then on the left hand side you will see the word counties. You should make from there. Good Luck

I wonder if there is a cemetery book for Cooke County. If so, could someone look up a burial for me. It is for U. C. Way who died Feb 11, 1929. He is also known as Uge or Ugene or Eugene Chesley Way. On the last census schedule I have for him, which was in 1920, he was enumerated in Cooke County with his wife Lucille Juanita Felder Way and a son by a previous marriage, Elmer Dewey Way.

But there's further documents provided that might take a year to fully assess the implications of.
Especially the details of the 1860-onward-associates of the TX adoptive family of the Childers orphans.
Maybe Mr. Beauregard would find some of those details which "dove-tail" with his guardianship documents?

I am not related. Walter Reagan seems to be a mystery but had a brother living with him and Dora in Cooke Co in 1900 also listed as Walter Reagan. There are no early available marriage records for Wood County due to fires. Walter married Dora in Cooke county.

There is no Detroit in Cooke County. The only Detroit in Texas that I can find is in Red River County.

Was there a Detroit located in Cooke County? Or when the Hisperian News reported on 2 Feb 1897 that Horace Gannaway died in Detroit, were they talking about the Detroit in Red River County or a Detroit in Cooke County?

Certain Iva is already aware the Watson(s) found 1880 Grayson. Perhaps they resided close to the boundary with Cooke thus the choice for marriage license? Don't think Cary Thomas Watson had a prior marriage?

I went to the court house and looked at the license for C., T. Watson and S. R. Aaron. She is listed as a Miss Aaron.

I went back a book or two to see if C. T. Waston had benn married before. But, in those two books there were no Watson's, so I guess they ahowed up in Cooke County after 1890. They found about seven (7) Watson's in the book with C. T. Sorry no help

The orignal Licence is still in the Cooke County files.

I plan to go look at it and see if it says Miss or Mrs.
