My great-grandfather Caswell Jordan CAMP b. 1852 in Panola co, TX told his grandson Jack CASTELLO: "I am half Indian, a member of the Choctaw tribe. I have relatives in Paducah (Cottle co.), Texas."
Caswell's parents, Johnson CAMP and Emily T. LACY, had migrated to Texas from Gwinnett co, GA. Johnson Camp died in a few years, and Emily Lacy Camp took her children and went back to her family (Georgia?). At age 15 Caswell CAMP returned to Texas and lived in Comanche county, where he married Sarah Emaline HARRIS in 1878. He was living with a daughter in San Angelo when he made the statement about being Indian and having relatives in Cottle county. He died in Cleburne, Johnson co.,TX in 1918. Any CAMPS or LACYs out there?
