Services Slated For Shackelford
Funeral services for Owen Shackelford, 63, owner of Shackelford Drilling Company, will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday in the Methodist Church at Crane. Shackelford died early Tuesday morning in his home at 1122 Kathleen in Crane after a three-month illness.
The Rev. Leslie Johnson, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Iraan, will officiate for the final rites. Burial will be in Crane Cemetery under the direction of Hubbard Funeral Home. The Crane Masonic Lodge is to conduct Masonic burial ceremonies.
Shackelford worked for Gulf Oil Company for 20 years before going into business for himself. He was born in Madison County, Iowa, on June 5, 1891, and married Ella Sherwin on Aug. 8, 1914, at Moline, Kans. The Shackelfords came to Crane in 1930 from Breckenridge. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Ella Shackelford of Crane; one son, G. S. of Iraan; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Louise Mills of Abilene; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Klingensmith of Afton, Iowa, Mrs. Anna West of Long Beach, Calif., and Miss Ella Shackelford also of Long Beach, and two granddaughters of Abilene.
Pall Bearers will be Hays Dameron, Faran Adams and Curtis Henderson of Crane and R. W. Nixon, B. J. Whitefield and R. C. Chalfont of Iraan.
