His parents were James Henry WILLIAMS, b. 9-20-1866, Seguin, Texas, d. 8-31-1947, Fort Sumner, New Mexico and mother, Eliza Jane MYERS, b. 8-3-1870 in Lockhart, Texas, died ?. The information I currently have states that in 1960, Eliza Jane MYERS was still residing in Hereford, Texas. James Henry WILLIAMS and Eliza Jane MYERS were married on 10-9-1890 in Lockhart, Texas.

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Deaf Smith County ,(Hereford) Texas as his home of record.

Soldier: ALLEN LYNNWOOD HALLUM
Born: December 2, 1921. Caucasian
Date of loss: October 3, 1950, MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 137 families in Texas that have not been located. There is one family from Deaf Smith County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (77 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

In 1913, I believe R.H. Purser was living in Hereford, Texas. He was my gr-grandmother's first cousin, but they were raised together, as she was orphaned. When she died, he wrote this "In Memoriam" article that I have discovered in some old family papers. I thought from reading it at first that he might be a minister, and discovered he was. Looking for Kirkpatricks from Texas. My ggrandmothers name was Virdie Lou Kirkpatrick Walker. b. Oct 8 1877 in Augusta TX. Her father was Oscar Dudley Kirkpatrick who married Mary Butts in Augusta TX in 1875. I know nothing about Mary Butts. Their daughter Virdie married Thomas Shelby Walker in iin San Saba in 1895. The Walkers and the Kirkpatricks were family friends.

My grandmother Mary Monroe Walker,was b. 1908 in San Saba TX....her notes say that Oscar Dudley Kirkpatrick also had the following children:

Any information about the pedigree and decendants of these Kirkpatricks or Butts deeply appreciated.

Looking for information on a George Smith. Last thing I have
on him is 1870,Census in Dekalb Co.Alabama.,and it shows
that he was born in that year. I've heard that he and his brother went to Texas and live. I've also have a George Smith
married to a Eva Parrish on June 25,1904 in Cherokee Co.AL.

A SSDI record shows that a Placido Quintana died in Hereford, TX in August of 1984, but my search of Deaf Smith County records does not confirm this man's death. Does anyone have any knowledge of Placido Quintana formerly of El Cerrito, New Mexico or his surviving family? Would appreciate any help?

Am searching for any information available on Roy and Meddie Harris of Deaf Smith County, circa 19teens and 1920s. Their children were Cecil, Althea, Nellie, Marie, Elizabeth, Shirley, Ima Jean and Douglas Ray Harris. I know they were farmers, I know they gave Douglas Ray up for adoption during hard times. Any additional information on this family would be most welcome. There is a possibility that others of the children were also adopted out. There is also a possibility that the farm was sold after 1923. I am especially looking for the parents of this couple. Meddie (Almedia? Cormedia?) was born in Kentucky. Thanks for any help.

I recently posted a query regarding Jefferson D. and Mary THOMPSON who lived in Hereford from 1902, apparently until they died. Their youngest child was born in 1900 and his name was Leroy THOMPSON. He married Flossie Faye (possible maiden name was VALENTINE). Under Deaf Smith County "births" I discovered a Billy Roy THOMPSON, born Sep 10, 1930 and a Bobbie Jean THOMPSON, born Mar 6, 1937. The mother of both these children is listed as Flossie Faye VALENTINE and I am assuming that their father was Leroy THOMPSON. My grandfather, Charles Clarence THOMPSON was a brother of Jefferson D. THOMPSON. I am interested in making a contact with Leroy and Bobbie Jean.
