Any DENNEY, BLEVINS or HANCOCK researchers or descendants out there? If so, what can you tell me about Henry BLEVINS, born about 1797 in North Carolina? Did he marry twice in Wayne Co., KY or were there two men named Henry Blevins who were about the same age in Wayne Co., KY in the early 1800s?
Wayne County records have two marriages for Henry Blevins.
June 19, 1818/1819 - Henry Blevins to Usley (Ursula) Denny, daughter of Esther (Small) and James Denney. Surety: Henry Denny. By Richard Barrier.
June 11, 1835 – Henry Blevins to Milly (Permelia) Hancock. Surety: William Hancock. By Benjamin Hancock.
This is where the confusion begins. Many researchers place the year of death for Ursula (Denney) Blevins as 1844 although I have not found a grave for her or other evidence to support this. Does anyone have proof of this? Does anyone know where she is buried?
Ursula (Denney) and Henry Blevins were the parents of Lorahama Emmazetta Blevins, born 29 Oct 1819, supposedly in Alabama. She married Ephraim Butram/Bertram, son of Nancy (Stinson) and William Bertram of Wayne Co., Kentucky. Did Loruhama have any sisters or brothers? If so, who were they? Was she really born in Alabama?
If Ursula was alive until 1844 it appears there may have been two Henry Blevins the same age and both born in North Carolina.
1n 1850 Permelia and Henry Blevins were in DeKalb Co., Alabama Census and may have lived there the rest of their lives. Was Permelia a second wife for the one and only Henry Blevins?
The user submitted trees at Ancestry.com for Henry Blevins and family are hopelessly inaccurate and muddled.
Any help untangling this genealogy puzzle will be appreciated.
