jerrydon_jc, my name is DJ Taylor. Mary C Dennis was my great-great-grandmother. I am descended from her son John Wesley Taylor-James Curtis Taylor Sr-James Curtis Taylor Jr-me, DJ Taylor. Mary is buried at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Argyle TX as are all my predecessors & Mary's son James Leonard Taylor & his descendants.
Sue Dennis Green, the originator of this thread, has done extensive research on the Dennis line & it is quite intresting.
From my research, John Wesley Taylor & James Leonard Taylor, along with their sister Mary Eden's (husband, Pierce) family came to Texas in November, 1889 (per note in John Wesley's Bible). They settled in the Grapevine-Estelle area, where DFW Airptort is today. Brother William Marcus Taylor & Frank Marion Taylor (both buried at the Grapevine Cemetery) came later as did another sister, Samantha Alice & her husband, "Fan" Conner. I'm not sure when Mary C Dennis Taylor arrived, but I know she wasn't in the 1889 migration. Another sister, Narcissa Taylro Cope, died in Tennessee as did her husband. Many of the Cope children were living either with or near their Taylor relatives in Texas at the 1900 census.
The family had a presence in Tarrant, Denton & Dallas counties from 1900 on, with the majority either in the Grapevine-Euless area or southwestern Denton county.
