Eddie Day Pevehouse wrote the book. .......consists of the Taylors, Days,
Kellys and Bennetts, all of whom were involved in the feud. I stumbled across an old post:
The book has some genealogy of these families, also copies of newspapers of that time which reported on the feud, copies of DeWitt County District Court records, census records, marriage records, stories about the feud and quite a number of photographs of the participants and their families. There is also a book called The Sutton-Taylor Feud, which was published in 1938, and written by Jack Hays Day of Cuero. Would you consider listing these two books in your bibliography? Neither book is fiction. I believe they would be of interest to people interested in DeWitt County history.
Here's a little more information on the books. "The Sutton-Taylor Feud" was published in 1938. It's author, Jack Hays Day, was the son of John Washington Day and Frances Ann Lowe. His grandmother was Susan Day Taylor and his step-grandfather was Pitkin Taylor. Jack Day was an adolescent when the feud began, so he remembered many things that happened during that time that would have been lost
had he not recorded them. This book is written in narrative form.
"The Taylor Party" is an indexed 278-page book. It includes copies of articles that appeared in Cuero and Austin
newspapers that related the latest news of the feud, genealogical information of the Taylor, Day, Kelly and Bennett families, Sutton-Taylor feud-related DeWitt County District Court records, relevant census records, marriage records of feud connected families, copies of old letters, narrative about the Taylor, Day, Kelly and Bennett families which include stories about the feud which various members of those families related to me, photographs of some of the active participants in the feud including John Wesley Hardin and other miscellaneous information. The format of the book is 8 1/2 X 11, spiral bound. The cover features a drawing of several members of the Taylor Party, and both front and back covers are laminated.........
I want to get a copy of this book since my family consists of the same people.
