Designation "Number exists***, **Death F" in Texas Birth Index

Many people have been confused by the designation "Number exists***, **Death F" in the Father's Name Field in the Texas Birth Index.

I emailed the Texas Department of State Health Services and according to them:

This designation is actually **DEATH FILE NUMBER EXISTS***, and it means that the baby was deceased. At the time that the birth certificate was data entered, the only way to make the notation in the electronic record that the baby was deceased was to enter this in the father’s name fields. The actual birth certificate will show the name of the father if that information was available, and the birth certificate will be stamped "DECEASED."

This format is outdated, however, and no longer used.

Note: Several people have pointed out to me that Texas has made mistakes with this designation, so use good judgment and further research when you see this designation in the Index.

Master Sgt. Cirildo Valencio, U.S. Army, of Carrizo Springs, Texas - Korean MIA Identified

On the Web:
http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/release.aspx?releaseid=1...

-----------------------------------------------------------

IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 630-08
July 24, 2008

-----------------------------------------------------------

Soldier Missing in Action from Korean War is Identified

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced today that the remains of a U.S. serviceman, missing in action from the Korean War, have been identified and will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

He is Master Sgt. Cirildo Valencio, U.S. Army, of Carrizo Springs, Texas. He will be buried on Aug. 4 in Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C.

Representatives from the Army met with Valencio’s next-of-kin to explain the recovery and identification process on behalf of the Secretary of the Army.

Valencio was assigned to Company L, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division then occupying a defensive position near Unsan, North Korea in an area known as the “Camel’s Head.” On Nov. 1, 1950, parts of two Chinese Communist Forces divisions struck the 1st Cavalry Division’s lines, collapsing the perimeter and forcing a withdrawal. In the process, the 3rd Battalion was surrounded and effectively ceased to exist as a fighting unit. Valencio was one of the more than 350 servicemen unaccounted-for from the battle at Unsan.

In 2002, a joint U.S.-Democratic People’s Republic of Korea team, led by the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), excavated a burial site south of Unsan near the nose of the “Camel’s Head” formed by the joining of the Nammyon and Kuryong rivers. The team recovered human remains.

Among other forensic identification tools and circumstantial evidence, scientists from JPAC and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory also used mitochondrial DNA and dental comparisons in the identification of the remains.

For additional information on the Defense Department’s mission to account for missing Americans, visit the DPMO web site at http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo or call (703) 699-1420 or (703) 509-1905.

I'm trying to find information on this family. John was my great grandfather. After the death of his wife Florence, my great grandmother, he supposedly remarried Ruth Phelps and had a daughter, Frances. According to my aunt, this remarriage was a well kept family secret so I have no information on my great aunt, who may still be alive. If anyone knows anything about this marriage and family, please contact me.
Thank you.

Its pretty sad.....seems when the older generation were kids, they were to be SEEN but not HEARD....Guess they were always told to stay out of family matters. Also if any older relatives came from Mexico, trying to find that info...FORGET it....

Yeah, I know the feeling. I really can't ask any of my older realitives because those who would know are no longer alive. I also can't ask my Tios and Tias because I don't want them to know, I have a feeling they would take offense if I was trying to find my mother's father.

Ok, amazing how hard it is to find out things about RUIZ's, I am sure other surnames have the same problem....lol. They say you ask your oldest living relatives, but when they cannot answer your questions, that makes it even worse. Thanks

Hi! I saw your entry and thought I'd ask a question too.

Isaac N. Allinder was my Great great grandfather through his son with Nancy Loveless - James Frank who married Ada Ellis. Their son Horace Newton, my grandfather married Margaret Chandler and had my father Carl Newton in 1934.

Through oral history I was told that Isaac was the son of W. Thomas Allinder and Easter Mathers and that he was the son of Thomas Allinder. Thomas Allinder b. 1774 was in the Irish Republic Army and came to America to escape hanging. I was told that he married a Cherokee woman and became a slave owner in Alabama. He had 2 sons who fought on opposite sides of the Civil War, and that they returned and 1 settled on the plantation the other became a blacksmithy in Arkansas and they married twin sisters. Is there any way to verify this?
I am still working on this branch of my family, and any additional information I can give or receive from anyone would be great.
I look forward to hearing from someone.

Yes, I remember your dad. I thought it was the Texaco station, but it sure could have been Phillips 66. When I was a teenager I would go in and just sit and visit with him. That was many, many years ago. My grandfather and father also knew him but they are both deceased now.

Teresa Lindsey

Hi Mark.

I've actually found out that his father is Joel Marion Allinder, b. KY in 1841. Perhaps they are still related? According to 1850 census records, Joel Marion's father was a Thomas Allinder b. MD around 1793. Does this sound familiar?

Hi Mark.

I haven't found Joel in any census info yet, but he did sell 50+ acres of his land to make way for Hendrix College there. Joel's wife was Emily Ann Duncan, who was also born in KY. I've been reading alot about the Duncan family in the Greenbriar area, so I'm assuming that Joel and Emily moved there with them.

It appears that Joel only had one child, Thomas.
