Am researching family of Santos SENDEJO who lived at or near the community of Mindiette or Mendiates, later known as Bess in NE Duval Co. Descendants also call this location Alamo, Texas, although I can not find any such listing on any map. Santos was known as "Tatita"; he was born 9 Nov 1865 in Mexico; son of Sostenes SENDEJO and Petra GUAJARDO. He had a child with Serapia ZENDEJAR (or ZENDEJAS) in Texas, and the child was called Teodoro SENDEJO. Serapia later married David GARCIA. Santos died 22 Nov 1954 at Bess, and was buried in the "Bess Cemetery". This cemetery is located next to the ruins of the old church at Bess on County Road 109, and today appears to be abandoned. A ranch driveway exists over the area of the old cemetery, although a few concrete crosses can be found on the opposite (north) side of the driveway with the names of BENAVIDEZ and SANCHEZ.

Teodoro SENDEJO (1 Apr 1889-11 Dec 1937) was a constable and deputy sheriff, who married Virginia RODRIGUEZ on 30 Dec 1915 at a JP in Jim Wells Co., daughter of Juan RODRIGUEZ and San Juana CAVAZOS (or CABAZOS). San Juana died in 1921 and is reported on her death certificate to be buried at Alamo, Texas. I'm assuming this is the same cemetery as "Bess Cemetery" described above. Teodoro and Virginia had 3 children - Serapio, Guadalupe, and Pedro. Teodoro and Virginia are buried in the San Diego Cemetery.

Serapio SENDEJO (born 1916) and his wife, Lucinda PEREZ, live in Falfurrias, Texas. Their granddaughter is my wife. If anyone has information on any of these persons, we would be interested in exchanging information. Thanks!

Teodoro SENDEJO appears to have married earlier to Paula FLORES on 2 Jun 1913, according to a marriage license from Duval Co. The celebrant was Fr. J.P. Bard, known to be the pastor of the Catholic church at San Diego, so I'm assuming they married at the church there.
