Can anyone help….looking for any information or leads about Charles Oscar Moreland that lived and died in Ellis, Texas.
He was born 06 Jan 1874 in Maries, Missouri and died in Ellis, Texas. We have a picture of him with his first wife Victoria taken in Texas. Since the picture has “his first wife” written on it, we assume that there was a second wife. We also have a picture of his son, we estimated (from clothing) taken about 1930s-1940s. He appears to be a young teenage. There is no name on the picture, just “ Charley’s boy”.

Charles Oscar Moreland born January 6, 1874 registered for the WWI draft in Ellis County, Texas. He was a cotton buyer and worked for W D Fulder of Dallas, Texas. He listed J T Moreland of Broadway, Missouri as his nearest relative. He was tall and medium height with gray eyes and light hair. (Charles did not list Victoria as his nearest relative which may indicate that he is no longer with her or she has died..instead he listed his brother back in Missouri).

In 1920, Charles is listed as single. A photograph of “Charles and his first wife Victoria” would indicate that Charles was married more than once. Most likely the Virginia listed in the 1900 census is Victoria. Charles may have married a second time between 1920 and 1926 and had a son at this time.

Charles’s son….not much to go on except that he would have been born between 1920-1926 if he is born of a second wife. And that he died young. In our search, we are speculating backwords from a death certificate we found in Ellis for another Charles Oscar Moreland that died in 1947….we found a birth record

Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997
