Looking for family of William Stafford listed in 1900 Fannin census

Surnames: Stafford, Pennington
I'm looking for family of William A Stafford married to Mary Elizabeth Pennington, who are listed in the census with their four daughters, including my Grandmother Belvia.

Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of Zephaniah and Nancy Pennington. Since there are other Stafford families in Fannin, I am hoping William A is related. He was born in Missouri in 1861.

Hello and thank you for all that research! It all seems to hang together except for that gravestone that says W.A. Stafford was born in Dec 1861 (which I had seen on Pushmataha Genweb) not May 1860 as the census would indicate. Obviously he would not have been around for the 1860 census if he was born in 1861! I could understand getting the year wrong but also the month??? What do you think?

Dates on tombstones are not always accurate or reported death dates and William appears to actually have been born in 1859 from what was found in census records and tracing the family to Texas beginning with Charles H Stafford being in Fannin County in 1880.

I did not recheck the date of the 1860 census taken in August and W A was listed as 6 mos old making him born Jan or Feb 1860.

Paula, Thinking about it further, my best guess is that he was born Dec 1859 and the census taker just guessed he was 6 months old instead of 9 months old. Since William was so much older than his wife, he might have shaved a couple of years off his age -- but not enough to be younger than his younger siblings!

Thanks again for your help -- you are an awesome researcher!
