I am looking for information pertaining to the parents of Edward Sweeney. Here is what I have:
born: 1823 in Ireland Arrived?? 1830-1840??
died: 28 Aug 1889 Kansas(buried in military cemetery)
Military-served in Civil War for Wisconsin 5th light artillery(have all service records)
married about 1851-1852 in New York( family lore was Westchester Village)
Henrietta Bridget Silva
born: abt 1833 New York? Ireland?
died: Sept./Oct. 1864 Green County, Wisconsin.
I have the family in the 1860 Census in Adams, Green Co., Wisconsin
Daniel Webster Sweeney b.15 June 1853 Westchester Village, NY
Edward W Sweeney b. 3 Sept 1856 Wisconsin/NY??
Marion Sweeney b. 5 Dec 1857 New York
Henry Edward Sweeney b. 28 Sept 1858 Monroe, Green Co., Wisconsin
John Sweeney b. 1860 Wisconsin
Bridget died while Edward was away fighting in the war. He returned home to bury his wife and to place the children with family and friends. I still can't find where John ended up.
I have letters from the early 80's that show the Sweeney family still had connections in Ireland(Through Daniel's children) BUT they don't say any names or places, they just refer to trips taken back to Ireland to visit "family"
I know that there has to be some Sweeney family left in Bonham or surrounding counties...does anyone know the name of Edward's father??? That will give me the lead so I can start research in Ireland....
Thanks in Advance.... Tammy =)
