I kept finding death records showing an Emma Dawson as mother and Wm M Hunter as father. With your additional information I do not believe there was a connection.

I could not find Samuel Franklin and Emma Dawson Nave in 1900 census they married early in 1891 according to the 1910 census, second marriage for Samuel and first for Emma. Gordon F Nave born 14 Dec 1891 in Shiner, Texas, registered for WW I Draft in Kenedy county per WW I Draft registration. Shiner is in Lavaca county.

Samuel's first marriage was to Caroline Ehlinger [sic], also of Fayette county, and they had Charlie Samuel in 1883.
