I had a cousin who died from injuries that occurred in a car wreck a mile from Flatonia, Texas in February 1954. Her name was Marjorie Friedrich (misspelled as Frederick in the Flatonia obit). She had recently gotten divorced and remarried, so the last name may be Ansley or Thomas. She was 23 years old and driving a 1953 Buick convertible. She was taken to the Youens Hospital in Weimar where she died a day later. Her body was taken back to Indiana for burial.

If there are any folks around who remember this incident, I'd appreciate if you could contact me.

Sounds like the same line. I show Elizabeth's parents to be J. Dietrich "Richard" HAVERLAND and Sophia Anna Dorothea HEINKE. I show Elizabeths siblings to be; Augusta, Dora, Frederick "Fritz", Gottfried Fredrick Charles "Carl", Marie, Wilhemena "Millie" also "Minnie", Charlotte, and Adolph Herman.

I found "Richard HAVERLAND" in the 1880 Census, Texas (Bastrop County).

Which of Elizabeth's siblings is your line?
Shirley,

Sorry about the problems. I don't recall exactly what I previously said and can't retrieve the original message.

I do remember saying that you may have a great deal of what I have, but in case you don't have the history of Bertha Stark Hausmann, I do have that in my family history, as well as a general history of her parents and siblings. It will be too long to send in one attachment, unless the Sky Drive can handle the entire file. If not, I can break it up into multiple attachments that can be sent in several email messages. I don't want to include my email address in this message, however.

My narrative does have some photos, but the great-granddaughter of Bertha has quite a few more of the Stark family, which I didn't include in my Hausmann history, because they were lateral relatives of Bertha.

Hopefully, we can figure out how to communicate.

Thanks,
Carolyn

I was scrolling through the queries in the Fayette County message board and saw your very old query. You may already have all of your questions answered, but I'll offer what I have anyway. Recently I just completed the history of the Hausmann Family of Fayette County. Emilie Stark married Emil Hausmann in 1895; he died a year later, so she married Emil Peschka on 6/13/1898. Her older sister, Bertha Stark, married Louis Hausmann, a first cousin of Emil. Another sister, Hannah, married Louis Henry Peschka, a brother of Emil. Emil and Emilie moved to Austin, where Emil worked in the wholesale grocery business. He died in 1931; Emilie married Paul Carl Wolff in 1943; she died nine months after their marriage. Emilie and Emil are buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Bertha and Louis lived on a farm in the Bluff Community. Louis was a younger brother of my husband's great-grandfather. I have more detailed information that I can send in a separate email and have a contact (granddaughter of Louis and Bertha) who has much more information and photos on some of the Stark sisters who lived in Austin.

Charles and Christine Stark moved from Fayette County to Dessau, northeast of Austin, where they owned and operated the local grocery store, saloon and hall. Christine Frieble was killed in an automobile accident in 1916, and Charles Stark died in the Seton Infirmary in Austin in 1930. Both are buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.

Let me know if you are interested and how I can send you the extra information I have on the Starks, Wandkes and Peschkas and photos of Emilie and Bertha Stark.

Carolyn Heinsohn

I am just amazed. I never dreamed of so many "cousins" reading my post. I am so happy you responded.
I would love to know more about Roberta L. Franks who married William Howard Stovall. She was born in Texas in a small community in Fayette Co. Her mother Lamira Lewis Franks died approx. 14 days after giving birth to her. Her father did not remarry until the year before his death in 1881. I just wonder how she ended up in Missippi. I haven't been able to find out who she lived with after her father died.
Does anyone have a picture of her?
I also have Rainey relatives on my dad's maternal line. The Minters are on my dad's paternal side.
Judy

Do you have any info regarding the later William Minter Goodwin born October 31, 1881 and lived in Davidson county, tn or any Nashville Goodwins? My father is named after him and obviously the original William Minter who was his great great grandmothers father. Thanks!
At this point, I'm beginning to wonder how many copies of the family tree are out there and who distributed them. I feel reasonably certain that "our" copy came from the Stovalls who are cousins and who kept in touch with my grandmother, Anne Goodwin. Besides, the original was drawn by a Stovall.

Don't be astounded that someone else has a copy of the tree. I have one in my livingroom. William Minter was my 3rd great grandfather. My line comes thru Mary Theresa Minter Rainey. This will bring you into Maury County,Tn.. What started my search of William Minter is we can't find where he is buried. My cousin called me to ask if I knew where & that started the hunt. His wife is in Greenwood Cemetery in Columbia,Tn.not far from my house. In my research I found this board tonight. I saw the post about the family tree. I'm Mary Howard Frierson Shelton and I live in Columbia,TN..My grandmother is Mary Minter Rainey Frierson. I guess I'll say "Hello,Cousins".

Hello Cousins,

It it wasn't for Maggie I wouldn't have a copy of that wonderful tree. I sent it to a Trabue cousin who contacted me.
My great great grandmother was Sara Jane Minter, daughter of William Minter and Elizabeth Waggoner.
Sara Jane Minter married Dr. Robert H Lewis. They had 11 children. The Roberta Stovall that Maggie mentioned is my great grandmother's youngest sister's only child.
I am eager to learn about the family. My branch of the family has known very little about their ancestors due to my great grandmother's (Rosa Eagle) second husband.
I would love to have copies of photos and stories.
Judy

Hi Margaret,
This is fascinating to me as well especially since we dont have alot of information from this side of the family. I wish now that I had the tree in front of me! My father, William Minter Goodwin, has it at his house. It belonged to his mother, Marie Louise Goodwin who was the daughter of William Minter Goodwin. William Minter was the son of John Ewin and Louisa Buford. John Ewin was the son of George Bennett goodwin and your great grandfather's brother. I would love to talk with you some more and share pictures with you. could we exchange emails? My name is Corrie Goodwin Stewart. Thank you!

I am astounded to find that anyone else has the family tree. My great-grandfather was William Goodwin, son of Louisa Minter and G.B. Goodwin. The family tree was drawn by Mr. M.J. Stovall. The Stovalls are on the tree just below Rose Minter. They live in Stovall, MS (near Clarksdale) on a huge cotton plantation. I knew Roberta Stovall who was my grandmother's cousin when I was a child. My brother lives in Memphis, TN, in the home that William Goodwin built in the 1870's. His wife was Mary Blythe, whose mother, Margaret, married A.D. Blythe, also on the tree. My given name is Margaret Blythe.

Hi,
I just stumbled across your posting while researching my great grandfather and grandmother's genealogy. My grandmother was Marie Louise Goodwin and her father was WIlliam Minter Goodwin, brother of Rose Fowler. I too have a copy of this same family tree. We have wondered about it for years and did not have alot of information about it from my grandmother who is now deceased. I would love to know if you had more information regarding our family.

Thanks for the update. I've been traveling and talking to family members as well while doing my tree my grandmother did confirm we have family in Rhode island that always sent letters to my great grandmother. This past week I picked up allot of letters and pictures that were my great grandmother's so hopefully I'll find treasures within that box of goods.

Thanks again,

Tony

Finding proof will be difficult but I hope you continue the search? The main barrier is the lack of records prior to 1870. Most of the slaveholding states did not identify slaves by name prior to 1870. The possible exception is the 1867 Voter Registration Roll that included newly freed slaves. That'll probably not be a good source 'cause Jourdan/Jordan was born ca. 1845 in Texas to parents from Virginia and Rhode Island(?). Rhode Island was a "free state" so that's suspect? Too, Jordan was grown in 1867 and his parents may have already perished? Your "best hope" might be the will/probate of the slavemaster with same surname in Fayette? The 1860 Slave Census identifies three possibilities: I. P., J. D., and W. A.

Their parents were Johann "Heinrich" Kuehne, born 27 Jun 1809 and Johanna Elizabeth Krause, born 18 Dec 1809.
My great-grandfather, William Goodwin, was the grandson of Elizabeth G. Waggoner and William Minter. I have copy of a family tree (literally drawn as a tree) of the Dupuy/La Villan family who came from France in 1700. It was drawn by Mrs. M. J. Stovall in Memphis, TN and has the date March 18, 1861 on it. Rose Eagle Fowler's name appears on it. I also have what is probably a mourning ring (hair under crystal) which is inscribed "Mother and Father" and "Rose Eagle". I was told it had belonged to "Cousin Rose" who had an adopted son, Willie, and who later married a Mr. Fowler. I inherited this ring from my grandmother (daughter of William Goodwin).

Believe her parents to be Anezka and Jan Chylek who arrived in the US on 3/20/1883 through NY and settling in either Lavaca or Fayette County. We think Anezka may have been the sister of Rozalie Fojtik-Konvicka Chovanetz as Florence's sister, Mary, lived with the Chovanetz's.
