Please do not give me census info ~ I have that.
I am looking for anyone who might be related to this family. They had a son who was named after the father and called 'junior'. As Pearl was born in Texas and quite possibly married in Foard around 1922/24 and they moved to Arizona by 1929 since they are in AZ for the 1930 census.

Seeing more information on my husband's grandfather - W L Rodgers who died in Crowell, Foard, TX on 18 NOV 1925 due to Typhoid Fever. I have a copy of the death certificate, but there is no mention of his parents. He was married to Cordie Lewellen-Rodgers and they had 5 children - Flossie Irene (married Jace Cromer), Ida Florine (married John Gilroy), Zella Fay (married Maynard Gilroy), Carl Lee (married Eleanor Vaccaro) and Florence (married Unknown Henderson & Unknown Johnson). I am looking for my great grandfather whom I believe may have lived in Cromwell, Foard Co in 1910 with his daughter Emily Green Tanner.

His son, my uncle, Charles W Green may have lived there at one time but I find him in a 1908 Haskell phone book with a general store business.

My grandfather, Robert E Green is buried at Highland Cementrey close to Stamford, Tx. He died Dec 30,1909,

My Dad Wesley H Green was born at Stamford in 1908 and when his father died, his mother took the kids and moved to Ti Vally, OK.

In 1939, Enid Justin (President of Nocona Boot Company) sponsored a Pony Express ride from Nocona, Texas to the World's Fair in California. I am researching the riders of the race. Two of the riders were from Foard County, both of Crowell. One was Bob Moyer, born approx 1918 and the other was George Cates, born approx 1905. According to the Thalia Cemetery book Lucretia Shelton Neel was born in 1842 and died in 1922. She was 80 years of age and born in Arkansas. She was of Irish, German descent and a member of the Luthern Church. She and her husband had 16 children. Neither she or her husband have a headstone. Their graves are 3' by 6' and are covered with concrete.

I am a great-granddaughter of Thomas J. Cates who moved to Oregon and died here in 1907 before my father was born. He was buried in Jefferson,OR cemetery. I have the headstone posted on my tree. Please advise if this would be your Thomas J. Cates.Thanks.

Thank you so much, this helps fill in more of my puzzle. In the Crowell Cemetery posting there is an error for Lafayette Thomas. It shows he was a "Civil War - Confederate". He only shows to be six when he died. I think the note reference was suppose to be on FL Thomas. I find no connection to FL Thomas and my g uncle Palmer. Palmer did have another brother named also named Lafayette who remained in Georgia. I located his decendents and his grave on a trip to Plains GA. several years ago.

Have much to share if I locate James Palmer's decendants.

33. TULLIS BEVERLY KLEPPER (John, Daniel, Samuel ?, Jacob Sr.), was born 16 March 1886 Plano, Collin County, Texas; son of John W. Klepper and Lucinda J. Patterson. He moved to Foard County, Texas with his family in December 1885; died 3 November 1966 in Foard County, Texas.

Married in 1922 to Virginia Newton

He began his long newspaper career in 1906 when he bought a half interest in “The Foard County New” from the late H. L. Kimsey. The firm of Kimsey and Klepper operated the paper until 1911 when they sold out. In 1916, they again purchased the paper, and in 1929, he bought out Mr. Kimsey’s half interest and became sole owner. In 1958 he formed a partnership with his son, Bill, and his partnership remained until his death.

I have not checked this forum in years and was pleased to see your post. My name has changed (Julie Walker to Julie Irving). My lineage goes like this: Polly had my great grandmother, Mary Melinda Garrett (Brown), who married Ephraim Frank Brown. From these two was born my grandmother; Nancy Jane Brown, who married George Hill. From these two came my mother; Violet Mae Hill.
I was surprised as some of the names that you listed, as my grandmother (Nancy Jane) named one of her children Myrtle (who died at the age of 3 from eating bad tomato's), and another one of her children (my mother) Mae.

Shirley, TSD Neel and Lucretia Shelton Neel were my great-grandparents. Their daughter Mattie was my father's mother.

So, I would love to know more about the family. I know almost nothing except for my Dad's brothers and sisters.

I am researching Foard Co., Rayland area. My father was born there in 1928. His name was Robert E. Taylor. He was born on the farm of his step-grandfather Anderson Howard and grandmother, Annie E. Sutton Howard. Anderson and "Lizzie" Howard were both interred at Eastview in Vernon. I recently went to Rayland to "knock" doors. Because it was Sunday I didn't go to Crowell to the abstract office for info. Is anyone familiar with a family/farm circa 1900-1945 in this region called the Howard farm/place? Bob Taylor.
