Kari, Please contact me regarding this JOHNSON request. I believe you are describing John L. JOHNSON (my great-great-grand-father) and his two wives (Sarah BASS and Mary L. GURNEY). However, the family is not from Georgia. It is from Perry county Alabama. How are you connected to the family. I descend from the son on John L. JOHNSON and Mary L. GURNEY, Leonard Butler JOHNSON who was born on 27 December 1861 near Lanely in Freestone county Texas. Theresa

Mostella family in NC

My Grandmother was Bertha Bridges. Her family was in McDowell County, NC at the time of her birth.
She married James Durant Hipps in Burke County.

John B. Bridges was her father, Sarah J. Mostella Bridges was her Mother.
Some of the siblings of Bertha would have been, Hattie Bridges, Edgar Bridges,Daniel Bridges, Mary Bridges, Effie Bridges, David Bridges.

Bertha was born on 8 Dec 1894, she died 16 Dec 1937 after childbirth. I also know she was clubfooted. This is all I know about my grandmothers family. My father was only 6 when she died and I could never find out anything.

I'm having trouble tracing her father and Mothers family. I have seen ONLY one picture of my Grandmother and would love it if I could find some Bridges family that might have family photo's, stories, information.

I am trying to fine someone who is researching the family of Lee Stigall. I found this family in the 1880 Freestone CO TX federal census. I also found Lee Stigall in Cotton Gin Cemetery--findagrave Memorial #11824884.

Looking for N P or Nancy P Golden, Goldin, Golding or any other form similar to the spelling). She was born in Alabama about 1848. Her parents are thought to have been Ira G Golden and Sarah Hill both born in SC.. Although a few of my family researchers indicate them to be Toliver Golden and a Malinda Unknown. Nancy is thought to have married George P Oliver (his 2nd marriage) and they had two children that I know of : Ida Myrtice Roney nee Oliver (my grandmother who died 1918 in the flu epidemic) and Cora Oliver who married Charles W Cherry. Most lived in Freestone and or Navarro Co., TX in years past. Can anyone add to or correct my information and it would be most appreciated if anyone has a picture of Ida and Cora Oliver. I will gladly pay for a copy. I can be reached at:
jujas@att.net

You are correct. I have been trying to get more infomation on him and I jumped the gun. I see now this one died in 1862. Thanks for keeping me straight. I was just at their grave site last month for the first time in my life and I was raised in Freestone County. Never knew it!!

Are any of your ancestors in line with Charity E. Tisdale (1793-????), her father - Haley Tisdale (1768-1833) - his father, - John Tisdale (1729-1813). These are my Tisdale"s which Charity married Josiah Martin (1790-1860). Their son was Robert H. Martin that married Rhoda Virginia Franklin. The last two are my GG Grandparents buried in the Mayes Cemetery off Hwy 84 east of Butler in Freestone County.

I believe that we can safely exclude this Robert Martin. I checked on Find A Grave and it appears that this person died in the 1860's and the Robert Martin I am concerned about, died in the 1880's.

I hope you are still looking for information regarding this man. He was married first to a Sallie Thronton and they had a daughter- Mattie Chamblee. Mattie Chamblee married William J. Mohundro. Mattie is my great-great grandmother, thus Henry Chamblee is my great-great-great grandfather. I am currently trying to create the branch of the tree for Mattie Chamblee Mohundro. Her sister, Nora, lived in St. Louis, Oklahoma and had several children. I have pictures for Maggie and Alice plus a letter written from Nora to Mattie in 1934.

Later, Caroline married James M. Taylor. They're found 1880 Navarro-Not Stated-131-Image 2. Dora McSwain wed James M. Land, 20 Nov 1884, in Navarro. Death certificates indicate at least four children born to the couple. Harvey Land (3 Sep 1885 - 18 Mar 1973), William Madison Land (1 Mar 1887 - 24 Jun 1950), Fannie Eleanor Saunders (6 Feb 1891 - 15 May 1959), and Pearl Alice Land (25 Nov 1893 - 2 Apr 1963) were siblings.

Dear Traci,
We have been working on a book for the Antioch Cemetery and did find an obituary for Ada Robertson and also for Ben Robertson's first wife. Both stated that they were buried at the Antioch Cemetery. I do not believe that she ever had a headstone but a funeral home marker. Mr. Clint Mullen, my husband's grandfather, was working on a cemetery map but passed away before he completed it. He did however have the grave locations of Ben Robertson SR and Ada marked on his map. He was the age that he would have known them and known when they were buried and where. They were the two graves just to the left of the marker for Ben Robertson, Jr. There is a rusty funeral home marker on one of those graves which is not readable. I hope this is helpful to you.
Take care,
Linda Mullen

Re: Missing Headstone

Hi John,
I did see her son's headstone when my family was visiting Freestone. He only has the military marker for a headstone. Both of Ben Jr.'s parents are also buried there. Neither Benjamin Sr. nor Ada has any heastone. There is not enough room for both parents to be buried next to their son Benny, so I am not sure who is where. I have called the church group, but they know nothing about them. I am trying to find a map, possibly from someone who did an inventory of the cemetery before the headstone became missing. I am not sure that Ben Sr. ever had one. The only way I found out Ben Sr. was there was from reading his death certificate.
