My Great Grandfather, William M. Beckmann came from Saxony, Germany. He and his brother August were in Co. F. 2nd Texas Infantry. William and August were wounded at Shiloh, William was captured and sent to Camp Chase, Ohio. Exchanged and sent to Quitman, Clarke County, Mississippi. When he recovered from his wound he was assigned to the 6th Texas Cavalry. When the war was over he came back to Quitman, MS. to live. I have all Beckman records for Clarke County, MS. He would go back to Texas often to visit his people. August was captured and set to Camp Dennison, Ohio. I have found no more records on August. I believe that Williams parents were Henrich [Henry] Beckmann and Sophhie Lochte. I would appreciate any information on this family
