Proof will probably be found on their immigration/naturalization records? Hazarding a "guess", they were mother (Theresa) and daughter (Rosa Helen)? Online death certificate: Rosa Helen Foulds (7 Sep 1871 - 12 May 1936) identifies parents as John Pritchard and "Theresa" Brace. Unable to locate death certificate for Theresa Foulds but findagrave memorial indicates death in 1928, despite 1930 census?

Designation "Number exists***, **Death F" in Texas Birth Index

Many people have been confused by the designation "Number exists***, **Death F" in the Father's Name Field in the Texas Birth Index.

I emailed the Texas Department of State Health Services and according to them:

This designation is actually **DEATH FILE NUMBER EXISTS***, and it means that the baby was deceased. At the time that the birth certificate was data entered, the only way to make the notation in the electronic record that the baby was deceased was to enter this in the father’s name fields. The actual birth certificate will show the name of the father if that information was available, and the birth certificate will be stamped "DECEASED."

This format is outdated, however, and no longer used.

Note: Several people have pointed out to me that Texas has made mistakes with this designation, so use good judgment and further research when you see this designation in the Index.

EDGAR Family Cemetery in DeWitt County

EDGAR Family Cemetery
Decoration Day 2013

A Decoration Day at the old EDGAR Family Cemetery is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th. The cemetery is remote, on private land, near the location of the old Edgar family homestead in the Edgar community, between Cuero and Yoakum. The Edgar family’s first-born son, Joseph Smith Edgar, was a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21,1836 (almost 177 years ago).

The cemetery dates to 1863 when the first burial is believed to have occurred there. The James Edgar family had moved to DeWitt County, TX from Maury County, TN in late 1853 to settle on a third of a league of land (1,476.1 acres) which was a first class headright grant, awarded to their first-born child, Joseph Smith Edgar, for his presence in Texas prior to the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence on 02 Mar 1836. Ten children are known to have been born to James Edgar and his wife, Selah Witherington, between 1818 and 1835. There were nine boys and one girl, and they all came to Texas.

The 17-year-old Joseph came first, in late 1835. He joined the Texas Army, and he was a member of Capt. Robert Calder's Infantry Company K, 1st Regiment, Texas Volunteers at the Battle of San Jacinto. In addition to the headright grant described above, Joseph was also awarded a donation grant of 640 acres for his service at the Battle of San Jacinto and a bounty grant of 320 acres for his service in the Texas Army in general.

Unfortunately, Joseph died before he ever saw any of the land he had earned. He died 09 Jul 1837 at the home of Capt. James Gibson Swisher on the Swisher Farm near the Old Gay Hill community in Washington County. Capt. Swisher was a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and he was from the same area in middle Tennessee as was the Edgar family.

In addition to Edgar family members, numerous other burials occurred in the old EDGAR Family Cemetery of relatives by marriage and of friends and neighbors. However, if you're still looking for a photo, you can post a request on findagrave.com.

The RESPECT project, www.projectrespect.com/members/whoweare.htm also might be willing to take a photo especially for a donation to their cause (restoring old cemeteries). They were involved with inventorying the Old part of Gonzales Cemetery. Successful Searching!

Numerous trees document this family. Point your mouse at "Search" in the header of ancestry.com's homepage. Scroll to "Public Member Trees" then click. Enter Aaron Simpson Duckworth as the father and omit the mother. Pulldown tab to display USA under "Country". Pulldown tab to display Arkansas under "State". Click "Search" then select tree(s) for review. Hopefully, select those trees with documentation? Also do findagrave lookup for S Hyatt-Turner in Gonzales County. Susann Annie Duckworth Hyatt-Turner (19 Sep 1855 - 25 Jun 1940) is the object of your search. She was the mother of Callie Emily West (15 Jan 1880 - 11 Dec 1966). I'm not related but do not hesitate to call if additional help required!

My father's name was Milburn Henry Newton (Nathaniel after his great uncle Nathaniel, and his great grandfather, William Henry Newton).

Nathaniel and Ella Jane had a total of ten children. They are both buried in Georgetown, Texas at the IOOF Cemetery, along with several of their children. They lived in several places in Texas, including Gonzales, Guadalupe County, and Austin. He passed away in Austin on October 19, 1910.

Susan Melinda was born Sep 3, 1869 in Gonzales, married WC Lott about 1889 and had two children James Newton Lott, and Clara F Lott.

I have a public tree posted on Ancestry with a lot of Newton info. Feel free to look. The tree is titled "Our Roots and Off Shoots". If you find you have to have an invitation, just let me know.

Are you aware that George Alexander Kerr was married before he married Serena? His first wife was Rebecca McCanliss of Giles county, Tn. They married in 1830. They had one daughter, Mary Amanda Jane Kerr born in San Felipe in 1831, and who married Francis Marion Johnson of Fayetteville, Tx. Rebecca died in 1833 at Lucy Kerr's place and is buried in the old Kerr cemetery somewhere. George Alexander Kerr is my 3rd great grandfather through Rebecca McCanliss and their daughter Mary Amanda Kerr. Do any of you have any information on this first marriage to Rebecca? I've hit a dead end on finding her parents. Any clues would be appreciated.

Lippe Detmold, Germany Geographical DNA Project

The scope and purpose of this Geographical DNA Project is to offer help to those reseachers who can either trace their ancestral roots to, or currently live in what was the former Principality of Lippe. Although there is a German DNA Project, the Lippe Detmold Project is designed to offer a more confined geographical area of research. Currently Lippe consist of roughly 481 square miles, this is walking distance. I originally started a DNA SURNAME PROJECT, which I still administer. Due to the German practice of changing surnames with the transfer of real-estate, either by purchase or inheritance through a female spouse, this project made sense to me. Historically Lippe has existed as a country since 1123 and was once an independent state within the Holy Roman Empire, later, it was incorporated into Prussia. Lippe was elevated to the satus of Principality from 1789 to 1949, it is now part of the state North Rhein-Westphalia. In the 19th Century 20,000 people from Lippe emigrated to the the Americas, mostly to the United States and Canada. Those of you, who want to join, please contact; Al Tieman at altieman@gmail.com

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/LippeDetmoldDE/

I’m not related to any member of this family.

1930 is the last available census at this time.

TX Vital Records -
The Texas Vital Statistics law to register births and deaths was not passed until 1903. Texas was then and is now a dual registration state which means the local registrars retain a copy of all birth and death records for the events that take place within their jurisdiction and the state retains the original of all birth and death records for the entire State of Texas. However, the statutes for registering these events were not made mandatory until 1926. However, many local registrars did not adhere to the statutes until the late 1930’s or early 1940’s. This means some records reside only in the local registrars’ files and not with the State.

Sincerely,

Sherry Crawford
Group Manager
Request Processing
Vital Statistics Unit
(888) 963-7111, ext 6195

1900 -
Name: Marian Wyatt
Age: 16
Birth Date: Mar 1884
Birthplace: Texas
Home in 1900: Justice Precinct 1, Gonzales, Texas
[Gonzales, Gonzales, Texas]
Race: White
Gender: Female
Relation to Head of House: Daughter
Marital Status: Single
Father's Name: James Wyatt
Father's Birthplace: England
Mother's name: Rosa L Wyatt
Mother's Birthplace: Miss
Occupation:

James Wyatt 38, 12/62 ENG - painter
Rosa L Wyatt 26, 12/73 TX
Marian Wyatt 16, 3/84 TX
Wesly Wyatt 3, 9/97 TX

1910 -
Name: James Wyatt
Age in 1910: 48
Birth Year: 1862
Birthplace: England
Home in 1910: Gonzales Ward 2, Gonzales, Texas
Race: White
Gender: Male
Relation to Head of House: Head
Marital Status: Married
Spouse's Name: Brie Wyatt
Father's Birthplace: England
Mother's Birthplace: England

James Wyatt 48, ENG - 2nd marriage, house painter
Brie Wyatt 36, TX - married 14 yr, 2 children
Wessly Wyatt 13, TX
Effie M Wyatt 7, TX
Charley F Wyatt 1, TX

1920 -
Name: James Wyatt
Age: 58
Birth Year: abt 1862
Birthplace: England
Home in 1920: Gonzales, Gonzales, Texas
Race: White
Gender: Male
Immigration Year: 1881
Relation to Head of House: Self (Head)
[Head]
Marital Status: Married
Spouse's Name: Rosa L E Wyatt
Father's Birthplace: England
Mother's Birthplace: England
Home Owned: Rent
Able to Read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes

James Wyatt 58, ENG - immigrated 1881, house painter
Rosa L E Wyatt 46, TX
Robert W Wyatt 22, TX
Charles F Wyatt 11, TX
Effie May Wyatt 16, TX

marriage record -
Groom's Name: James Wyatt
Groom's Birth Date:
Groom's Birthplace:
Groom's Age:
Bride's Name: Rosa Wright
Bride's Birth Date:
Bride's Birthplace:
Bride's Age:
Marriage Date: 27 Jul 1898
Marriage Place: , Gonzales, Texas

1900 -
Name: S J Wyatt [this is the father]
Age: 55
Birth Date: Jan 1845
Birthplace: England
Home in 1900: Justice Precinct 1, Gonzales, Texas
[Gonzales, Gonzales, Texas]
Race: White
Gender: Male
Relation to Head of House: Head
Marital Status: Married
Spouse's Name: Eliza Wyatt
Marriage Year: 1860
Years Married: 40
Father's Birthplace: England
Mother's Birthplace: England
Occupation:

S J Wyatt 55, 1/45 ENG - peddler in medicine; immigrated 1881
Eliza Wyatt 73, 2/27 ENG - 3 children & 2 living; married 40 yrs

1910 -
Both parents die before 1910.

marriage record -
Groom's Name: Geo.
thank you for your reply. i am not interested in whether it was grandparents or great grandparents but i was trying to be helpful to the Connely -and i can never remember exactly how to spell the name-family to let them know their graves needed attention. i was in that cemetery in 2004 and am just getting around to this post.
would you be so kind as to look up a listing of that cemetery and be sure that is was Connelly and not Lyndon Johnson's grandparents? i am getting older and have memory mistake lapses-if you live long enough you may have the same happen to you. i am only joking with you but this eventually happens to all of us if we live long enough.
i do appreciate your reply. as i said, i do not live in TX and some of my Storey ancestors, who came to TX from GA c 1844 are buried there also and someone told me they believed they may have come as a group from GA or joined up on their way.

the Storey family of whom i speak is the family of John Thompson Storey, a member of the GA Militia who moved a group of Indians from north GA to Ok,served with Henry McCullough as a Texas Ranger, lost two sons during the Mexican War, had one son who rode with Jack Hays as a Texas Ranger following the Mexican War (Storey Co NV is named for him) and another son, L. J. Storey who was Lt. Gov of TX c 1881 and whose descendant was Ann Armstrong who died several years ago and who served her country well.I do not know but two of L. J.'s descendants. If you know any of them, I would appreciate you asking them to contact me. My great grandfather, Col. R. L. Storey remained in GA. I share this family info with you as i am also seeking help in locating these other family member.
that old cemetery is located in Gonzales co on land originally owned by John T. Storey, sold to his son-in-law, Henry Price, and was then sold many times since then. The person who is now the owner was kind enough to let my cousin who lives in the area borrow the key for us to get into his land in 2004. if i were wealthy, i would hire someone to clean and refence that cemetery.
please do not judge me by my improper typing errors-arthritis has made its mark on my fingers.
i will appreciate any contacts that you could make for me and thank you for your time.
betty

FYI! Charles P. and Rebecca Connally were the late governor's great grandparents. Grandparents were John W. Connally and Louisa Wardell Duke. Parents were John Bowden Connally and Lela Wright. Post in Bexar County. Merrill Lee Connally, Jr., nephew of the governor, listed as parent of child born 1987. Too, there are several other births of descendants registered in Bexar. The governor had an uncle, Nolton M. Connally born Mar 1883. Nolton had a namesake son born 1917. Public telephone listing Nolton M. Connally (210) 661-3679 might be a later generation?

I was named after my Aunt Bobbie -- my middle name is "Joyce." I always remember my Aunt Bobbie's hair and I thought she was beautiful. Grace is my cousin but I haven't seen her since my Aunt's funeral. I would like to keep in touch with her and her family.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've done quite a lot of research on the Muelker family--mostly many years ago.

We have a Muelker Family Reunion page on Facebook and also a Shutterfly photo album that I started 2 years ago, if you would be interested in seeing those sites.

Kathy
