You probably have more info on this family than anyone? Most public trees do not even acknowledge John Wheeler/Elizabeth Landrum as parents of James Avery Wheeler! Per online death certificate, they were his parents. The mystery involves his whereabouts 1860/1870? Too, the mystery of John, Elizabeth, and Joseph during this period is perplexing! Explore the possibility that Henry H. Wheeler (ca. 1800 NC) and Mary Ann Sawyer were parents of John (ca. 1823), Amanda (ca. 1826), and Mary Ann (ca. 1835)? Amanda wed James Thomas, 28 Apr 1842, in Montgomery County, TX. In 1850 Grimes-Not Stated-Image 48, they sheltered H. H. and Mary Ann Wheeler. The family of John, Elizabeth, and Joseph Wheeler lived nearby. James Wheeler wed Mary Mullins/Mullens, 28 Aug 1878, in Grimes. Afterwards, he very visible on census records. Believe you'll find Elizabeth Wheeler on census record with James/Amanda Thomas? Thought process is she and Amanda were inlaws and her husband had expired? Good luck with this search!
