Dean; 'Ray' (Reginald)
Most of the Deans who hailed originally out of nearby to LEEDS, ENGLAND had adopted a family marker of ALITERATIVE
INITIALS in the naming process of their various families. For instance the ROOT intials were general "J.R." and especially the use of names such as RAY are the MARKERS as we find in one of their distant cousins; J.R.R. Tolkein.
Reginald Dean, Professor and Gadfly inventor of a 'perpetual calendar' and a phonetic spelling system titled; "BRITIC" (C='sh'...ie "BRITISH") which uses ONLY our 26-Letters, was a Doctor of Literature at the University and traveled widely in France. His son Raymond
continued in his shoes as a Professor at LEEDS. Jimmy Dean and other branched off from the this LEEDS root were known to often refer to themselves as being 'Half-Cherokee' as Davey Crockett, himself also with British heritage, made light of it to distinguish himself from the British TORY loyalists who had moved to Canada often was quoted before Congress by his prefacing most all his speeches with; "I'm half-Cherokee, half-'gator, and half-horse; and I kin lick any man amongst ye! Uh, what was the Honorable Gentleman from Virginia referring to in that last proposed measure?"
Don or Denny or Dennis are also other marker names for the boys, while almost all the girls in the 'old style' had names which began with the letter "E"...Ethel, Edna, Enid,
Elizabeth ('Beth) Edith, Edwina, Emma, and many others too numerous to count. These are often in their English or Welsh or Irish spellings. Eva and Emer are common. Next is use of letter Y for diminutive endings...jimmY...donnY..etc
and also both boys & girls have a 'J' name. Edna Jeanne Dean. Dean has also been changed to Deane and Deen by a few who wanted to distance themselves from those claiming to be Cherokees, as they moved into Missouri and became Mormons. Meanwhile those who lived mostly in Arkansas & Oklahoma who did not convert to Mormonism have at least one cousin who is a prefessor at University level or a Pastor. (Preacher) The commonest form of business activity in so far as to provide for their families (make money) has always been by selling of land and animals. So Jimmy Dean the one who had been on TV with Molly Bee was also the Jimmy Dean who lived on a yacht in New York City, wore a Mink Coat and carried a leather handbag, while he wheeled-&-dealed multi-million-dollar real-estate.
