Thank you for your message! I had long forgotten that this posting existed!! ...and we do have a beautiful story of finding this family and later found the paternal side as well! The adopted one (our father) died a year ago, but did get to experience the joy of having siblings on both sides! It was a blessed finding the missing link!

Thanks for your posting!

Since you are needing your maternal family history, you might consider taking the mtdna test from Family Tree Dna. I took the mtdna because I am female and wanted to know more about my mother's mother's line. However, the Family Finder test confirmed for me as a female that I have cousins from my mother's paternal line of Parkers. Hope this helps.

I am looking for Joseph Bailey Shrader or Joe Bailey Shrader or Joe Shrader who was born in 1907 in Collin County Texas. He was on the 1930 census as living in Hansford County, TX. Evidently he died in Gruver, Hansford County. He was being transported to a hospital by ambulance when it wrecked and he was killed. There are several different versions around the family. Could you please find out any information through newspaper or obits. It was in 1945. Thank you so much.

Hello,
I am looking for any information on the Chester family living in Spearman in the 1930's (from census records)
Bob, Glena, Charlotte (b 1911), Carnestine (b 1925), Anabel (b 1927).
Bob may also be known as Ernest, and I think he is the son of my great grandmother. The family knows of his existance but have no idea what happened to him.
Thanks for any assistance,
Howard

Hi Gary.

To make a long story short, I began searching for Olivette about two years ago, because Olivette Hancock was the signature of the birth mother on my dad's adoption papers from 1929 in Forth Worth. My search eventually led to Mary Jane in Pearland. Mary and I are friends and she considers me her nephew as I consider her my aunt. She and my dad met in March of this year and had a great visit. I plan to meet her for the first time this summer. Mary Jane is a caring woman who I am proud to be associated with. The stickler with this is that we can't find the final piece of the puzzle to prove beyond any doubt that she and my dad are half siblings. We did a mail order DNA test that was negative. Mary is convinced the test was wrong and says Dad definitely favors the Douglas clan as do I. Anyone who might know something about Olivette's past is gone. All we know is she "went off to" beauty school when she was 21 to 22 years old. We don't know where she went, but the overwhelming circumstantial evidence lines up with my dad's birth date.

My wife has started a family tree on the computer that includes the Hancock and Douglas families.

I guess if all this is true, you and I would be 2nd cousins.
If you'd like to see what we have on your family tree, we would glad to send you what we have to date. I remember MJ saying you live in West Texas??? We lived in Midland for several years and naturally, still have a little flatlander in us.
We live close to Denton now. I work for what used to be Parker and Parsley in Midland and now we are Pioneer Natural Resources in Irving.

God Bless.

Paul Castles

By the way, I'm 47 and Dad is 74. My mother is deceased.

It used to be a naval base in the war of 1812.

It is a rare name in Canada. Is there a website or information on the Hansfords of England, Wessex, Cornwall etc?

Cheers
