I am a Mooers Family researcher, attempting to locate additional information about Clifford Mooers. He was born in Shasta County, California. He graduated, apparently, from the University of Washington and then join the US Army Air Corps in WWI. He trained at two based in Texas and one in Ok and apparently settled in Texas after the war. Apparently he was in the oil business and close acquaintances with the Montcrief family. On June 31, 1931 he sent a telegram to then Texas Governor Sterling about "bootleg oil operators", which apparently led to the governor ordring the shut down of wells and a declaration of martial law in three counties in August 1931.
In 1940 in the records of a reunion of airmen in Houston, he said he owned the Pine Lake Farm in Houston and there bred horses. It appears that later he moved his operation to Kentucky. He had several horses run in the Kentucky Derby in the 50's, as well as in other major stake races.
Any information or leads you can provide will be very much appreciated.
